We sat down and asked “Mike Eze” a few question’s for his fan’s to get a deeper look at his upbringing.
Q: What City Are You From?
Mike Eze : I am from Boston, Massachusetts and currently living in Los Angeles, California.
Q: When Did You Start Making Music?
Mike Eze: I started making music, like truly writing song’s around the age 12, but I was always musical inclined ever before then. I always wanted to sing and rap.
Q: Tell us about your childhood?
Mike Eze : I’m the youngest of 4 on my mother’s side and the oldest of 2 on my father’s side. My father is from Haiti and my Mother is from Boston (Black). I mainly grew up with my mother and my older sister’s. My mother was on section 8 and was staying in a home my grandparents owned. We didn’t have much, she was unable to work due to an injury but she always made it happen. Unfortunately she passed away when I was 17 and from there things took a turn, my grandfather whom was my father figure died 3 months earlier. My grandmother passed in earlier years, my cousin died as well. Then we got kicked out our home and had to stay with slum lords. I later lost my Godmother and my uncle committed suicide. I lost alot of people and went through a lot at an early age.
Q: What artist did you grow up listening to that inspired your sound?
Mike Eze : I’ve honestly listened to a plethora of artist, such as Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Lil Durk, Chief Keef, Montana of 300, Fetty wap. And I’d say each of those artist has had some sort of impact on my musical creativity in one way or another.
Q: Where did you first start recording music?
Mike Eze : When I first started I had bought a $20 usb mic, borrowed my sister’s laptop and I was recording through a bottle with a sock in it as a pop filter lol, in my hot ass room. Then I saved up enough for a blue yeti, a pop filter and I used that in my hot ass room. Later on I when I was 16 years old, I met someone whom changed my life. An artist/producer named “BossEngland” who seen the potential in me no one else did. And he let me record at his studio. He also shot my first music videos and I honestly don’t trust no one else to do them at the moment haha. As of now I am in Los Angeles California and I currently record at “Lost Visionary” studios, with my engineer “Drew Acquino” who is a great artist himself as well.
Q: Who are some Artist you wanna shout out that you worked with?
Mike Eze: Shout Out to my big brudda “BossEngland”, shout out to my cousin “Jigga Marz”, shout out to my boy “Goosay”, and shout out to my brother “MTS Vibes”! Shout out to “Drew Acquino” we gonna be working real soon.
Q: If you could explain your sound how would you?
Mike Eze : My Sound? Good question. I make music on whatever I feel at that time. If I want to make drill, I’ll make drill. If I wanna do R&B I’ll do R&B. If I wanna be a lyrical miracle rapper I can do that as well. I view music as the embodiment of freedom and nothing makes me happier than making whatever I want and having people vibe to it and love it.
Q: What is your most recent release?
Mike Eze: My most recent song is a summer vibe titled “Bottles”! It’s the vibe of the summer, it just came out July 11th on all streaming platforms. And I highly recommend you give it a listen.
Q: Do you have anything coming up?
Mike Eze: New music coming sooner than later !
