03 Greedo: From Watts to the World — The Unbreakable Spirit Behind Another Night Out

03 Greedo’s story is one of resilience, creativity, and survival — a journey that has taken him from the streets of Watts to the national spotlight, through incarceration, and now into a new chapter with his latest project, Another Night Out.

03 Greedo came up surrounded by struggle and hard realities that would later define his sound. Before finding success, he hustled to make ends meet, selling beats and recording tracks that blended pain, ambition, and melody. He first performed under the name Greedy Giddy, releasing early underground mixtapes like Bi-Polar and Money, Powder, Regrets, which hinted at his raw potential. As his music matured, he rebranded as 03 Greedo, founding his own label, Golden Grenade Empire, and dropping a series of Purple Summer tapes that established him as a one-of-a-kind voice in the music industry.

By 2017, Greedo had become one of the most prolific artists on the West Coast. He dropped multiple projects in one year, including Purple Summer 03: Purple Hearted Soldier and Money Changes Everything, each release showing off his ability to merge gritty street stories with emotional, melodic delivery. That same year, he signed a deal with Alamo Records and released The Wolf of Grape Streetin early 2018 — a breakout mixtape that captured his life’s duality: pain and perseverance, chaos and creativity.

Just as his star was rising, life took a drastic turn. In 2018, Greedo was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Facing what could have been decades behind bars, he accepted the reality of his situation — but refused to let it silence him. Before turning himself in, he recorded hundreds, possibly thousands, of unreleased songs, ensuring his presence would be felt even while he was away.

That same year, on the day of his sentencing, he dropped God Level, a 27-track album that captured the urgency of a man racing against time. It was introspective, bold, and deeply personal, solidifying his legend status before confinement. Even behind bars, Greedo’s music continued to pour out. Still Summer in the Projects, produced entirely by DJ Mustard, arrived in 2019 and became a defining West Coast release of that year, proving his voice could cut through even from prison. He followed up with collaborative projects like Netflix & Deal with Kenny Beats, which featured heavy hitters such as Vince Staples and Freddie Gibbs. His work ethic and consistency made him a symbol of dedication — a reminder that art could outlast circumstances.

After serving several years, Greedo was finally granted parole and released in January 2023. Within days, he dropped Halfway There, followed by Free 03, an electrifying comeback that paired him with producer Mike Free and featured artists like BlueBucksClan and OhGeesy. The music was triumphant but reflective, showing a more focused and self-aware Greedo. He had survived the impossible and was now reshaping his sound with intention.

Throughout 2024, Greedo continued to build momentum, releasing Hella Greedy — a collaboration with Detroit producer Helluva that fused L.A. swagger with Detroit energy. The project reminded fans that even after everything he’d endured, he was still ahead of his time. His melodic instincts and emotional honesty separated him from the pack; his catalog became proof that vulnerability could coexist with street authenticity.

Now in 2025, Greedo has returned with Another Night Out, a nine-song project that encapsulates his evolution. Compact, confident, and personal, it’s a late-night soundtrack filled with reflection and raw emotion. Songs like “Baddest Shi” give glimpses of his trademark melodic delivery, while others dive into themes of survival, love, and the cost of fame. The project feels like a moment of calm — not resignation, but balance. After years of chaos, Greedo sounds centered, focused, and still hungry.

Another Night Out isn’t just another release; it’s a statement that his story is far from over. From Watts to worldwide recognition, from prison walls to creative freedom, 03 Greedo has become a symbol of perseverance and authenticity in modern rap. His journey is a testament to the idea that no matter how dark things get, art — when fueled by truth and passion — can’t be silenced.
