Boston’s Underground Standout: 12xce: The Self-Made Artist Blending Atmosphere, Ambition, and Rap

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, 12xce is an artist shaped by lineage, curiosity, and independence. Music has never been a phase for him—it’s been present since childhood. His father, and his grandfather before him, were both guitarists, embedding music into his daily life long before he understood it as a career path. By the age of 10, he was already playing guitar and writing original songs, setting a foundation that would quietly but steadily evolve into something distinct.

At 14, he began releasing music under the name Doce. As his sound matured, so did his vision, leading to the rebrand as 12xce—the same pronunciation, but a more personal and original identity. That change marked more than a name shift; it reflected an artist becoming more intentional about how he presents himself and his work.

Musically, 12xce’s influences span generations and genres. Growing up, his ears were tuned to Black Sabbath, Rage Against the Machine, Jane’s Addiction, and Tame Impala, while simultaneously absorbing newer artists like Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, and Trippie Redd. Rather than choosing between eras, he pulled from all of them. The result is a style he describes as atmospheric rap—music that blends emotion and ambition, constantly shifting in sound and approach without being boxed into one lane.

A major part of 12xce’s identity is self-sufficiency. He produces and records his own music wherever possible, whether that’s in a studio, on the road, or in unconventional spaces. At the same time, he works closely with producers and engineers around him to sharpen his ideas and preserve a raw, authentic feel. The goal is never imitation, but creation—music that feels new, unfiltered, and honest.

In 2024, 12xce moved to Los Angeles to expand his network and gain experience working with management tied to an independent label. Since then, he’s lived between Massachusetts and California, building on both coasts without losing his roots. One of his most meaningful milestones came back home in Framingham, where he took over No Culture Studios, a space where he once recorded during his early years. Now, he runs the studio himself, helping local artists develop their sound and brand while recording most of his own music there when he’s not traveling.

His most recent release, “BIG DUFF,” captures his current momentum, while his next single, “WOW,” is set to drop January 1, 2026—intentionally timed to kick off a new year and a new chapter. With a growing catalog, hands-on creative control, and deep roots in both rock and modern rap, 12xce stands out as one of Boston’s rarest emerging talents and a potential East Coast heavyweight in the making.
