From East London to Global Soul: Tiana Major9’s Path to “November Scorpio”

Before November Scorpio lands February 13, British R&B powerhouse Tiana Major9 has quietly and masterfully sculpted one of the most compelling artistic arcs in modern soul music. From gospel-soaked beginnings in East London to a Grammy-nominated breakthrough and now a boldly personal debut album, Tiana’s story is one of evolution, authenticity, and fearless self-expression.

Born in the heart of London’s Newham borough, her early life was steeped in music—singing in church, sharing iPods with friends, and soaking up everything from R&B to reggae. That early immersion told you everything you’d need to know: music wasn’t something Tiana chose — it chose her.

Her professional journey gained momentum long before most artists find their footing. A finalist in MOBO’s UnSung competition put her on the map, but it was signing with Motown Records in 2019 that propelled her into the wider world. That same year, her collaboration with EarthGang on “Collide” — featured on the Queen & Slim soundtrack — garnered her a Grammy nomination, firmly establishing her as a voice to watch.

But Major9’s journey hasn’t been a straight line. After two successful EPs with Motown and widespread praise for singles like “Merry Go,” “Levee (Let It Break),” and “Mr. Mysterious,” she experienced the kind of industry shift many artists know all too well: the liberation of becoming truly independent. It was a moment that shifted her creative compass and opened space for deeper self-discovery.

That rediscovery is the heartbeat of November Scorpio — an album that promises vulnerability, emotional honesty, and sonic depth. The record weaves jazz, soul, and R&B into a tapestry that is at once introspective and universal. Lead singles like “Always,” featuring Yebba, capture the tender negotiation of love and memory, while tracks like “energy!” showcase a confident, unabashedly joyful side of Major9’s artistry.

Tiana has described this forthcoming album as both a reflection and a reinvention — a project born from alignment with who she is today as an artist, a human, and a storyteller. Across November Scorpio, she doesn’t shy away from complexity: love, self-worth, money, heartbreak, and growth all find space in her lyrics and melodies.

Her collaborators and listeners have taken note. With over 200 million streams worldwide, Major9 has worked with names like Stormzy, EARTHGANG, Bryson Tiller, and Unknown T, and even held stages alongside Victoria Monét, Jazmine Sullivan, and Adele.   But for all of that, what sets Tiana apart is her refusal to fit neatly into a box: she writes with nuance, sings with soul, and creates with intention.

November Scorpio isn’t just an album — it’s the sound of an artist coming fully into her own. It’s the culmination of years of resilience, risk, and reinvention, set to release February 13th via +1 Records.
