The Making of L.A. Baby: Dazy Lyn’s Path to Her Debut Album

Dazy Lyn, widely known as “L.A. Baby,” represents a voice shaped by pain, growth, and self-discovery. Raised in Los Angeles, her childhood was far from easy. She describes those early years as dark, marked by experiences that would later resurface as deep-rooted trauma in her adult life. Instead of running from it, she would eventually learn to face it—and channel it into her music.

Her path into music wasn’t planned. While building her own lane as a businesswoman, renting a space for her salon, she found herself surrounded by creativity in an unexpected way. The building doubled as a music studio, and after long nights of work, she would hear artists recording. Curiosity turned into inspiration. Before long, she stepped into the booth herself, unknowingly beginning a new chapter.

Dazy Lyn started releasing music during the COVID-19 pandemic, with her first official track, “Chills.” Like many artists in their early stages, she experimented with her sound, using records like “Trippin” and “Lullabies” to find her voice. But even then, there was something deeper driving her. She speaks openly about feeling guided by a higher power—a spiritual presence and inner voice that shapes both her creativity and her sense of direction.

A turning point came during a trip to Peru, where she experienced ayahuasca at a time when she felt lost. That moment became transformative. She credits it with saving her life and helping her reconnect with herself. When she returned, her focus shifted. Music was no longer something she was testing—it became something she was committed to.

From there, the momentum began to build. A major co-sign from Sway on Sway in the Morningintroduced her to a wider audience, while recognition from Havoc of Mobb Deep added weight within the industry. When Havoc went on to support her debut project, it marked a significant moment of validation for an artist still early in her journey.

What separates Dazy Lyn is her balance. She can rap with precision, deliver melodies that stay with you, and tell stories that feel both personal and relatable. Her music reflects everything she’s been through—struggle, healing, and growth—without losing its edge.

All of that comes together on her debut album, The L.A. Baby. The 14-track project features appearances from Mozzy, Coyote, Murkemz, Havoc, and Zzay, showcasing her ability to hold her own alongside established names. Standout records like “This Time,” “Boom Bap,” “Infamous Love,” and “From The Land” highlight her range and identity as an artist.

Dazy Lyn’s journey is still unfolding, but her story already carries weight. From a difficult childhood in Los Angeles to finding purpose through music and spirituality, she’s building something real—one record at a time.
