From East New York to the Booth: HiClassJay’s Real Story

HiClassJay is a product of Brooklyn, New York — specifically the East New York section.

Growing up, he witnessed situations that many never have to face. Those moments became the foundation of who he is today. For HiClassJay, music isn’t just expression — it’s reflection. Every lyric comes from real situations, real emotions, and a lifestyle that can’t be faked.

His introduction to music started at home. Watching his father’s side of the family engage in rap battles and write music sparked his interest early on. What began as curiosity quickly turned into something deeper. Once he recognized the impact music could have — how it could move people and tell stories — he committed fully and never looked back.

Influenced by artists who carried authenticity and raw energy, HiClassJay developed a deep appreciation for music that makes you feel something. Among them, one name stands above the rest: Biggie Smalls. That influence is evident in his approach — direct, honest, and unapologetic.

His sound is rooted in aggressive, dark drill, layered with real-life storytelling. It’s high energy but intentional, with every bar carrying weight and meaning. His music delivers pain, pressure, and intensity — the kind that resonates and leaves a lasting impression.

HiClassJay’s journey as an artist began in the basement of his close friend, Zeus Anderson. That’s where he recorded his first tracks and learned the foundation of his craft using FL Studio. Today, he records the majority of his own music, continuing to develop his skills while learning how to mix and master independently.

His upbringing is deeply tied to the streets of East New York, particularly around New Lots Avenue. He also spent time in Bushwick, where his grandmother lived, and grew up frequenting Highland Park — places that played a role in shaping both his life and his sound.

His most recent release, “2 Fingers One Thumb,” showcases his raw delivery and unfiltered perspective. With consistency at the forefront, HiClassJay plans to drop new music every couple of weeks, with his next release titled “Glitching” already on the way.

Behind his grind is a strong support system. He gives credit to Zeus Anderson for helping him take his first steps in music, as well as his team, 6lueHillzEnt, for constantly pushing him to improve. He also represents the brand Rich Ova, calling it more than a name — it’s a lifestyle. Above all, he recognizes his mother for raising him right and being a key part of his journey.
