Raised in Southern California, Jay2Rich’s story begins in Riverside and unfolds through Moreno Valley before eventually landing in Hemet.
As a kid, life felt normal. He went to school, played with Legos, and got into his fair share of fights—something he admits he was drawn to early on. But beyond that rough edge, music was already in his blood. His father, known as Chief Realla, made music himself, and Jay2Rich grew up watching it firsthand. Studio sessions, freestyling for fun, and even making beats with his mouth became part of his everyday life. Those early moments planted a seed, even if he didn’t fully realize it at the time. Being around that environment—and even crossing paths with major artists—made music feel natural.
Everything shifted when he moved to Hemet.
Living in the Rosalia Apartments, Jay2Rich witnessed the breakdown of his parents’ relationship. What followed was a period filled with domestic conflict, arguments, and instability. Watching his parents fight, especially seeing his father struggle with alcohol, left a lasting impact—not just on him, but on his younger siblings as well. Eventually, his parents divorced, and his father disappeared from his life completely.
He was just 10 or 11 years old the last time he saw him.
That absence hit hard. The man he once looked up to was suddenly gone, and that pain followed him into his teenage years. From middle school through high school, Jay2Rich describes himself as angry and lost—fighting at school, ditching classes, and eventually getting expelled. Raised by a single mother, he credits her strength and dedication for holding things together during those years. Still, the weight of everything led him down a path of early smoking and reckless behavior.
At 17, his life changed in an instant.
One night, while riding a scooter to a friend’s house, he was hit head-on by a drunk driver. The accident left him with a broken femur, head injuries, and a severe brachial plexus injury after severing three out of four nerves in his right arm. He spent nearly two months in the hospital, fighting to recover. To this day, he lives with limited function in that arm.
But instead of letting it define him, Jay2Rich chose to shift his focus.
Grateful to be alive, he began to see music differently—not just as something fun, but as a real purpose. Around that same age, he started recording his first songs on BandLab using nothing more than Apple headphones. At the time, it was experimental and unpolished, but it was a start.
By the end of 2025, everything changed.
He made the decision to take music seriously.
Despite the daily challenges that come with his injury, Jay2Rich has been consistent, driven by both his natural talent and the encouragement of those around him. His sound reflects his environment and influences—artists like Drakeo the Ruler, Ralfy the Plug, Bxbyface E, FrostyDaSnowmann, Mg Sleepy, and Lil Tony have all played a role in shaping his style. His music carries a raw, unapologetic energy—blending trap, hustle mentality, and moments of character-driven storytelling, with an edge that keeps it authentic.
Much of his early catalog was recorded on BandLab, but his newer work shows growth, now being created in professional studio settings. That evolution is clear in his latest EP, “STRIKE CITY,” an eight-track project that reflects both his journey and his hunger to succeed.
Beyond music, his roots remain tied to the places he grew up—spots like Sallee Park, Rancho Park, and local school campuses where he spent his formative years.
Jay2Rich is also quick to acknowledge the people who helped shape his path. He gives a heartfelt tribute to his late friend Kimora, who encouraged him to chase money and take music seriously before her passing. He credits his mother and stepfather, Jarell, for their unwavering support, along with his close circle of friends. He also recognizes Christian, also known as dbsecludedvisuals, for pushing him to step into the spotlight—filming his first music video and helping him take that next step as an artist.
Now, Jay2Rich is moving forward with purpose. With his latest EP out and a new single titled “Drakeo Flow” on the way, he’s continuing to build momentum.
His story isn’t just about music—it’s about resilience, growth, and turning real-life pain into something powerful.
