From 38th & Nevin to Global Studios: “Saeed” — A Richmond Story

Raised in Richmond, California, the artist’s story begins in a single-parent household, shaped by both structure and survival. Growing up between South Richmond—around 38th & Nevin—El Cerrito, and Hercules, he experienced a mix of environments that exposed him to different perspectives early on. His upbringing balanced real-life challenges with strong family values. Time spent outside, connecting with people from all walks of life, helped him develop a sense of awareness that would later define his music. At the same time, sports and school gave him discipline, keeping him grounded while everything around him moved fast.

His introduction to music came during his early teenage years. He started writing raps in the 8th grade, but it wasn’t until he was around 15 or 16 that he began taking it seriously. That shift marked a turning point—recording consistently, sharpening his pen, and realizing music could be something bigger than just a passion.

Growing up, his sound was influenced by a wide range of artists rooted in authenticity and storytelling. From West Coast legends like 2Pac, Messy Marv, The Jacka, E-40, and Mac Dre, to lyricists like Jadakiss, The Lox, and Jay-Z, he developed an appreciation for substance. Later, artists like J. Cole, CyHi The Prynce, Rick Ross, and Nipsey Hussle left a lasting impression—especially Nipsey’s independent mindset and purposeful approach to both music and business.

Today, that foundation is clear in his own sound. He describes it as authentic and intentional, built on real-life experiences. It blends West Coast influence with an elevated, modern feel, layered with an East Coast-style flow. His music focuses on storytelling, growth, and substance—records that can motivate, reflect, and still carry energy in any setting.

His recording process has taken him far beyond his hometown. While much of his catalog has been created in studios across Los Angeles and the Bay Area, his work has also stretched across the globe—from London, England to cities like Atlanta, Houston, Portland, and beyond. Whether in professional studios or more intimate creative spaces, he adapts to the environment, always focused on capturing the right energy for each project.

Before the studio sessions and travel, his days were spent in the community—at neighborhood parks, schoolyards, and local hangouts throughout Richmond, Hercules, and Pinole. Spots like Hilltop Mall and nearby football fields were where friendships were built and memories were made, shaping the person behind the music.

He recently released his “Runway Music” EP, marking another step forward in his journey. But he’s already looking ahead. With a steady stream of new material, he’s preparing for the release of his upcoming album “Remain Player,” fully produced by Loqee Chris. Alongside that, additional projects like “Playaz Club” and “Runway Music 2” are on the way, along with new visuals and collaborations.

Through it all, he remains connected to the people who’ve supported him from the start. He credits his family, his team, and his collaborators—including Loqee Chris, Jstn Tyme, Larrie Lawson, Trey Parker, and New Sean—for helping shape his journey. Just as important are the listeners continue to believe in his vision, pushing the movement forward as he continues to build something lasting.
