Da_HulkP: From Dayton Struggle to California Ambition

Da_HulkP’s journey didn’t start with a microphone in his hand — it started in the struggle. Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, he grew up in poverty with his mom, pops, and sister at his side. Life was rough, and he’ll be the first to admit he was “bad as hell” as a kid. But even in the chaos, one thing stuck with him early: music.

As a teenager, he first tapped into that passion through Christian rap. But while music was pulling him in one direction, the streets were pulling him in another. Spending so much time outside around the thugs in his neighborhood eventually became too much. When he was 15, his parents made a decision they hoped would save him — they moved him to California.

But a new environment can’t erase old habits overnight. By 16, he was getting in trouble again, eventually getting locked up. He wouldn’t step out of the penitentiary until 2023. Losing his pops in 2020 while he was inside only made the pain deeper. But it also planted something in him — a fire to turn his life around and chase the thing he always loved most: music.

Even though he started making music as a teenager, it wasn’t until last year that he decided to take it seriously. And once he did, everything changed. Growing up on influences like Drake and Lil Wayne shaped his vision for what he wanted to become — an artist whose sound is unique, different, and versatile.

Today, he records all his music with his boy from Stockton, Fast Traffic, building a sound that’s becoming more defined with every track. Stockton has also become one of his second homes, with spots like Kelly Drive and Bancroft shaping some of his wildest memories and deepest inspiration.

Now, Da_HulkP is stepping fully into his moment. He has a brand-new single out titled “Ykwtfgo”, a clear statement that he knows exactly where he’s headed. And he’s far from finished — he’s currently working on a new EP, expected to land somewhere between 6 to 8 tracks. The exact date isn’t locked in yet, but fans won’t have to wait long. He’s also gearing up to open at a show on May 22nd, planning to drop right after that momentum hits.

But behind every song, every verse, and every late-night studio session is the fuel that keeps him pushing. First and foremost, he gives gratitude to God. He shouts out his mom dukes for always holding him down, his girl for being his rock, and his son — the biggest inspiration pushing him to take his craft seriously. He also salutes his brother Peezy for believing in him when nobody else did. And, most importantly, he honors his pops — SIP — whose memory stays with him every time he steps into the booth.

From Dayton to Cali, from the struggle to the studio, Da_HulkP is writing a new chapter — one track at a time.
