Growing up on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio, King Space was surrounded by family, sports, and music long before he ever stepped into a recording studio. Raised in a two-parent household by his mother and stepfather, he also maintained a strong relationship with his father throughout his life. As the years went on, that bond only grew stronger, helping shape the man and artist he would become.
Music was always present in his home. His mother and stepfather introduced him to legendary artists like Ice Cube and Jay-Z at an early age, exposing him to the storytelling, lyricism, and authenticity that would later influence his own approach to music. One album that stood out during his childhood was Jay-Z’s In My Lifetime, Vol. 1, a project that left a lasting impression and helped fuel his appreciation for hip-hop culture.
Before music became a serious pursuit, King Space was focused on basketball. He considered himself an athlete first and spent much of his youth on the courts around Sophia Avenue and East 102nd Street. He also spent countless hours at local recreation centers including Zelma George Recreation Center, Bedford Heights Recreation Center, and Earl B. Turner Recreation Center. Those environments helped build the competitive mindset and work ethic that would later carry over into his music career.
During his high school years, King Space began freestyling and developing his confidence on the mic. Although music was already a passion, he didn’t fully commit to it until he was around 21 or 22 years old. Once he decided to take the craft seriously, he began working to develop his own identity as an artist while drawing inspiration from some of hip-hop’s most respected names.
Ice Cube, Jay-Z, and Lil Wayne all played major roles in shaping his musical perspective. Their cadence, storytelling abilities, and lyricism became important influences. The mixtape era also left a strong impact on his style, while artists like Wiz Khalifa provided additional inspiration throughout his high school years. Together, those influences helped form the foundation of his sound.
Today, King Space describes his music as versatile while remaining rooted in what he calls “Cleveland luxury rap.” His ability to adapt to different styles allows him to create music that feels fresh while staying connected to his experiences, upbringing, and hometown culture.
Much of the music available in his catalog today was recorded at Signal Flow Studios, where he worked to turn his ideas into fully realized records. Along the way, he has built relationships with engineers and creatives who helped bring his vision to life and elevate his sound.
His latest project, Clocked In Mixtape, is available now on EVEN and all major streaming platforms. The release continues to showcase his growth as an artist while highlighting the dedication he has invested into his craft over the years.
King Space isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Fans can look forward to his upcoming project, From Space With Love, scheduled for release in June 2026.
As he reflects on his journey, King Space gives credit to the people who helped him along the way.
