Growing up in El Monte, California, VICIOU$ was surrounded by family, hard work, and the realities of street culture. As the youngest of seven siblings in a Mexican American household, he learned early about perseverance, loyalty, and staying true to who you are. Those lessons would later become the foundation of his music.
Before music became a serious pursuit, sports played a major role in his life. He spent countless days on the baseball fields at Pioneer Park and Lambert Park, while also competing on the basketball courts at New Temple. Those experiences taught him discipline, teamwork, and the competitive mindset that still shows up in his music today.
At 16 years old, VICIOU$ began writing his own raps. Inspired by some of the greatest names in hip-hop, he grew up listening to Eazy-E, Snoop Dogg, Tupac, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Nate Dogg, DJ Quik, and Dr. Dre. The influence of classic West Coast music, especially the Death Row era, helped shape his sound and artistic identity.
By the age of 19, he stepped into the recording studio and began turning his ideas into records. Much of his early catalog was created alongside his longtime collaborator Producer Ai, recording out of a home studio environment that allowed him to develop his craft and build his confidence. More recently, he has continued elevating his sound while recording at The Watche Studios.
When asked to describe his music, VICIOU$ calls it West Coast rap with gangster funk, but with added versatility. His music carries the signature bounce and authenticity of California hip-hop while allowing room for growth, experimentation, and personal storytelling.
His latest release, “Impala,” continues to showcase the style and energy that have earned him growing attention. Fans can also look forward to his upcoming album, “Beware of the Dog,” scheduled to drop this summer. The project represents another major step forward for an artist determined to leave his mark on the West Coast rap scene.
As his career continues to grow, VICIOU$ remains grateful to those who have helped open doors along the way. He gives a special shoutout to Palma Music Inc. for providing him the opportunity to showcase his talent at the highest level.
With deep roots in El Monte, a strong work ethic, and a sound inspired by West Coast legends while remaining uniquely his own, VICIOU$ is proving that authenticity never goes out of style.
