Album Review: Mr.901’s Legacy 2 Is Built on Real Life and Real Lessons

Covington, Tennessee artist Mr.901 returns with one of the strongest projects of 2026, releasing his new album Legacy 2. The 13-track body of work features production from Nicknme, Cheetah King Beats, Aurora Beats, Millz On Da Beat, Myke Milyan, Trashbagg Beatz, P8, Koun Beats, Versa, and Yung Nab. The album also includes a guest appearance from Southern rap veteran Lil’ Flip. Engineering was handled by Kyle Javello and Mike, while the cover art was created by Lemini4k.

The album opens with “Patient,” a record that sets the tone from the start. Mr.901 reflects on years of grinding and staying focused, reminding listeners that success doesn’t happen overnight. He speaks on hustling since his younger days and the importance of staying committed to the process.

Throughout the project, Mr.901 consistently showcases his songwriting and storytelling abilities. Each record feels personal, with real-life experiences and lessons woven into the music.

One of the standout tracks is “Gave My All.” The song hits hard with the line, “I can’t love nobody that don’t love me.” It focuses on growing apart from people, balancing life’s responsibilities, and learning the importance of protecting your own peace. As Mr.901 reflects, there were times he was helping others when he should have been looking out for himself.

Another standout record is “Legacy 2,” the album’s title track. Here, Mr.901 looks back on everything he has overcome, reflecting on the trials, tribulations, and victories that shaped his journey. At several points, he speaks directly to his son, making the record one of the most heartfelt moments on the album.

Legacy 2 is a well-rounded project filled with honesty, growth, and strong storytelling. It’s easily one of the best bodies of work released in 2026 so far. Be sure to check out the full album and stay connected with Mr.901 as he continues to build on his legacy.
