Raised in Southeast Washington, D.C. during the early ’90s, his journey began with an average childhood that was shaped by both love and adversity. After losing his father at just three years old, he was raised by his mother alongside a big, supportive family that helped keep him grounded.
Music was always part of everyday life growing up. Whether it was classic Motown records, the smooth sounds of Kenny G, or everything in between, AYE!plus was surrounded by different styles of music from an early age. That mix of influences helped shape his ear and gave him a balanced approach to creating music today.
By the time he was 12 or 13 years old, AYE!plus had already stepped into a professional recording studio. His passion for rap started after hearing Ma$e, while artists like Jay-Z, André 3000, Kanye West, Michael Jackson, and the rich Go-Go culture of Washington, D.C. all played major roles in shaping his artistry and musical direction.
Growing up in the nation’s capital also meant being immersed in the city’s legendary Go-Go scene. Before rap became as prominent locally, Go-Go was the heartbeat of the city. AYE!plus spent countless nights at some of D.C.‘s most memorable spots, including Mad Chef Cafe, DC Star, 24, The Scene, and CFE, where the city’s culture came alive several nights a week. He also gives flowers to those who helped shape the scene, paying respect to the late Polo of Bounce Beat Kingz (TCB), while shouting out Big G of Backyard Band, Killa Cal of Rare Essence, and Chris of TOB for their contributions to the culture.
Today, AYE!plus describes his music as smooth, adult contemporary rap mixed with quality street music. It’s a sound that reflects both maturity and authenticity while staying connected to the streets that raised him. Most of his catalog has been recorded throughout his hometown and the surrounding DMV area, allowing him to keep his music rooted in the place that helped shape his identity.
His upcoming project, “Can’t Buy Class,” continues that vision, with the title track already available as the lead single. Fans can also look forward to his next release, “Cold Hearted” featuring Bay Area artist Rayven Justice. The rollout goes beyond the music, featuring a mini-series along with exclusive merchandise bundles and digital collector cards, giving supporters a deeper experience around the release.
