Growing up in Long Beach, California, Golden562 experienced a childhood that balanced both hardship and privilege. Those experiences helped shape the artist and woman she is today. One of the biggest influences on her early life was her mother, who served as the Cultural Enrichment Director at the Boys & Girls Club. Through that environment, Golden562 was surrounded by music, art, and a strong sense of community from a young age. It was there that her creative ambition first took root.
The Boys & Girls Club, along with local spots like The Pike and the Long Beach shoreline, became places where her imagination grew. Those memories and experiences gave her a deep appreciation for her city, something that continues to shine through in her music today.
Golden562’s journey into music began at just 14 years old when she joined a group called Yung Idyl & MzDimplez. She originally stepped into music to support her younger cousin, who wanted to rap but was too nervous to do it alone. What started as encouragement quickly turned into something much bigger. The group was signed when they were only 14 years old, giving Golden562 an early taste of the music industry.
Despite that early success, she made the decision to put music on hold so she could focus on earning her college degree. Years later, in 2023, she returned to her passion with a renewed purpose. Since then, she’s been fully committed to building the career she always believed was possible.
Growing up, Golden562 found inspiration from a wide range of artists, including Missy Elliott, Remy Ma, Lil’ Kim, Snoop Dogg, E-40, Too Short, Mac Miller, TLC, and Brandy. Listening to such a diverse mix of music helped shape a style that’s uniquely her own and difficult to fit into a single category.
She describes her sound as confident, unapologetic West Coast music built on storytelling. Calling it “Big Bougie Type Shit,” Golden562 creates records that empower listeners while giving them an honest look into her life, her experiences, and the city that raised her.
Most of her music is recorded at home or in smaller studios alongside engineers Maine and Jstlszn, both of whom have played an important role in helping bring her creative vision to life.
Golden562 is currently pushing her latest release, “CreepN,” while preparing to drop her upcoming single, “Doin What I Want.” She’s also hard at work on a larger project titled The Golden Era, giving fans plenty to look forward to. Those attending Auguste Fest on August 22 will be among the first to hear a preview of what’s next.
Above everything, Golden562 gives thanks to God for guiding her journey. She also shows love to SHU Music Group, especially Spud, along with Maine and Jstlszn for helping shape her music.
