Growing up in South Central Los Angeles, California, YT Vulture learned early that life would require resilience. As the oldest of three brothers, he was raised on tough love by a family that always wanted the best for him. Their guidance gave him a strong support system and instilled values that continue to shape the man and artist he is today.
While life wasn’t always easy, his upbringing taught him accountability, perseverance, and the importance of never giving up. Growing up in South Central exposed him to experiences and perspectives that became part of his identity. The people, the neighborhoods, and the culture all played a role in molding the stories he now tells through his music.
Much of his time was spent around 81st Street and Compton Avenue, along with the neighborhoods surrounding Parmalee, Zamora, and Nadeau. Although he knew the community well, YT Vulture describes himself as more of a homebody, often choosing to stay close to home while taking in everything happening around him.
Music entered his life around the age of 14 or 15. What started as a creative outlet quickly became something much bigger. It gave him a voice, a purpose, and a way to express the experiences that shaped his life.
His musical foundation was built on artists who mastered storytelling and authenticity. The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, E-40, Snoop Dogg, Cassidy, Nas, Eminem, and Nipsey Hussle all influenced his approach in different ways, inspiring him to create music that carries meaning instead of simply chasing trends.
One moment stands out above the rest.
While attending a court appearance at the Hill Street Courthouse, YT Vulture unexpectedly crossed paths with Nipsey Hussle. After realizing they were both dressed almost identically in white T-shirts, blue Pro Club shorts, and blue Chuck Taylors, the two shared a laugh and began talking. YT introduced himself as an aspiring artist and mentioned that his friend Pac-Man was part of Nipsey’s camp.
Before they parted ways, Nipsey gave him simple advice: bring him seven songs.
At the time, YT Vulture already had more than twenty songs recorded, but fear and self-doubt kept him from following through. He convinced himself that Nipsey might not like his music, and the opportunity slipped away.
Looking back, he considers it one of the biggest regrets of his career.
That experience became a turning point, teaching him one of the most valuable lessons he has ever learned: never let fear make your decisions. Since that day, he has promised himself to never let another opportunity pass because of doubt.
Today, YT Vulture describes his music as authentic, raw, tenacious, and versatile. Whether he’s creating motivational records that encourage people to keep pushing through life’s challenges or songs meant to bring people together and celebrate life, his goal remains the same—to stay true to himself and never be confined to one style.
Most of his music has been recorded in places that became creative homes along the way, including his friend Fresh’s house, Whole Systems in Long Beach with Max and Rich, and a makeshift studio built inside his friend Marcus the Great’s garage. He also had the opportunity to record with Disko Boogie before his untimely passing, a collaboration he continues to appreciate. Rest in peace, Disko.
YT Vulture’s latest release, Landslide, marks another chapter in his journey, with even more music on the horizon. Fans can also look forward to his upcoming releases, Bleu Cookies and Die Winning, as he continues building his catalog while representing an authentic West Coast sound.
As he reflects on his journey, YT Vulture gives all glory to God for every blessing and every lesson that has guided his path. He also extends gratitude to Famous, Bala on the Beat, Marcus the Great, his cousin Blow for helping bring his visuals to life, FreshFromDE, Max and Rich at Whole Systems, and everyone who has believed in his vision.
He gives special recognition to his manager, Chill, for standing beside him and continuing to push the vision forward, along with his friend Jay from Protect Ya Neck for his consistent support and encouragement.
Finally, he credits Nipsey Hussle for leaving him with a lesson that continues to shape his career. Although their conversation was brief, its impact has lasted for years. More than anything, it reminded him that opportunities only matter if you’re willing to take them. Today, that lesson fuels every move he makes, ensuring that fear will never stand between him and his purpose again.
