The Story Behind the Artist: The Journey Of Melcube

From London, Melcube has spent years developing his sound by listening, learning, and creating on his own terms. His musical journey began with Michael Jackson before expanding into the sounds of LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Sean Paul, and Kanye West. Each artist brought something different to his ear and helped shape the artist he would eventually become.

Growing up, Melcube spent most of his time between the pub and the studio. He always kept his ear open to what was happening in the clubs, paying attention to the sounds that were connecting with people before taking those ideas back to his home studio and creating his own music.

That home studio became an important part of his development. Every song he has released has been produced and recorded by Melcube himself from his home studio in Southeast London. Learning how to handle the entire creative process gave him the freedom to experiment and gradually build a sound that feels personal.

Melcube describes his music as a reflection of the person he has become. His songs are shaped by both the good and bad experiences in his life, then polished by the artists who influenced him, including 50 Cent, Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Pharrell Williams. The result is music that carries his influences while remaining connected to his own experiences.

His latest album, Living Optimistic Under Distress (L.O.U.D), takes that honesty even further. The project explores his experiences with political discrimination and the realities that can come with facing systemic barriers and limited opportunities.

Through raw storytelling and introspective lyrics, L.O.U.D follows the emotional journey from believing that anything is possible to confronting fear, disappointment, and uncertainty. At its core, however, the album is about resilience, acceptance, and finding peace in understanding that life does not always happen on your timeline.

After taking years to develop himself artistically, Melcube feels ready to finally let more of his music out. He has spent those years absorbing influences, experimenting, and finding his identity as an artist. Now, he says it’s time to stop holding back.

As he prepares to release new music, Melcube also gives a special shoutout to his longtime friends Wiky and Lythe. Those years spent around their home studios helped shape his journey, and today, the time and experience he invested are beginning to pay off.
