From St. Louis, Missouri, December is one of the city’s most talented up-and-coming artists, bringing an authentic feel and versatile style to everything he creates. Long before his latest release, December was building his name as one half of the rap duo known as the Benji Brothers, alongside his longtime friend and partner, Benji Bam. In 2018, the Benji Brothers faced federal charges connected to a robbery in St. Louis. What followed would become one of the most difficult chapters of December’s life.
During this period, December also experienced the devastating loss of his close friend and longtime musical partner, Benji Bam, who was killed in a shooting following a car accident. Losing someone so close while already dealing with the challenges surrounding his own life changed December forever.
After serving four years in federal prison, December recently returned home with a different perspective and even more to say.
Even while incarcerated, he continued finding ways to connect with people through his music. His jailhouse freestyles began circulating online, with multiple videos going viral and reaching millions of views. The impact went beyond the numbers. Other artists began doing remixes and reaching out for features, showing that December’s voice and story continued to resonate even while he was behind bars.
Now he’s home, and he’s picking up where he left off.
