Coming out of Alabama, BossMan Bandjo has a story built on growth, setbacks, faith, and learning from the person he used to be. Before the music, business, and everything he is building today, Bandjo describes himself as a kid who was often considered the black sheep of his family.
Looking back on his younger years, he openly admits that he was a “bad” kid who would steal and get into things he knew he had no business doing. Those choices shaped how people around him viewed him, and he remembers a time when even people close to him were cautious about the person he might become.
But growing up changed his perspective.
As Bandjo matured, his priorities began to shift. The things that once mattered to him started to mean less, while stability, family, fatherhood, and faith became more important. His relationship with his daughter has become a major part of his motivation, along with his belief in God and the life he is working to build.
The same family members who may have once doubted him can now see him in a different position — one where he is able to help and provide for others. That evolution is a major part of who BossMan Bandjo is today.
Finding His Way Into Music
Bandjo’s connection to music came from a genuine love for rap and hip-hop. The art form eventually became more than something he enjoyed; it became a path he wanted to pursue.
By November 2019, Bandjo describes himself as being at his peak. He was releasing music, booking shows, and building momentum. At the time, he was known as TSL Bandjo, and things were moving in the right direction.
Then, in February 2020, he was incarcerated, putting his music career on pause and temporarily stopping the momentum he had built.
Coming home meant starting over in many ways.
Since his return, Bandjo has been focused on rebuilding his career and creating a new chapter for himself. Along the way, his music began reaching a larger audience again, including a viral moment that helped bring new attention to his name and showed him that the momentum could still be rebuilt.
A Different Approach In The Studio
One thing that stands out about BossMan Bandjo’s creative process is how natural it is.
He doesn’t rely on writing his lyrics down. When he gets into the studio, he creates everything off the top of his head. For Bandjo, the studio is about catching a feeling and turning that feeling into music.
He remembers one particular four-hour session with Mosart at the Hit House where he recorded 11 songs in one sitting. That moment says a lot about his ability to stay creative, locked in, and productive when the vibe is right.
Most of Bandjo’s music falls within the trap lane, with a message centered around motivation and encouraging people in the streets to get money and create something for themselves.
But his viral single “PTPOM” showed another side of his creativity.
When a producer played him a beat that felt different from his normal sound, Bandjo decided to step outside his comfort zone and have some fun with it. The result was a more playful and “freaky” record that eventually connected with listeners in a major way.
For Bandjo, making the record was bigger than just creating another song. It reminded him that sometimes the best music comes from simply enjoying the moment and allowing yourself to experiment.

The transition from TSL Bandjo to BossMan Bandjo represents more than a name change. It reflects the person he has become and the direction he is heading.
