Growing up in New York, Lani says she always loved the energy of the city. As a kid, she moved around from place to place, spending time with family and friends across different neighborhoods. Those experiences gave her a deep connection to the city and its culture, shaping the way she sees the world today.
Music was never far from her life. While her mom wasn’t a big music listener, creativity still ran through the family. Her father used to rap, and many of her cousins sang or wrote music. Being surrounded by that kind of talent naturally pulled Lani toward the arts. She started expressing herself early, first through poetry at just 10 years old. Writing became a way for her to organize her thoughts and emotions, and over time that passion slowly evolved into music.
Her childhood wasn’t without challenges. Lani has spoken about dealing with bullying when she was younger. But instead of letting those moments define her, they helped build her resilience. With the support of her family and a strong foundation at home, she developed the confidence that now shows up in her music and personality.
By 2019, she officially began taking music more seriously and started recording. Still, her real breakthrough in visibility came years later when she began posting freestyle videos on TikTok. Her raw delivery, personality, and natural presence quickly caught attention online, helping her reach a wider audience and grow her fanbase.
What separates Big Steppa Lani is her mindset as an artist. She believes confidence and self-belief are essential for anyone stepping into the spotlight. Rather than chasing trends, she focuses on originality and versatility, allowing her music to reflect who she truly is.
Outside of music, Lani is also thinking about the bigger picture. She plans to pursue a degree in Business Administration with the goal of becoming an entrepreneur. Beyond performing, she’s interested in building a career that includes brand partnerships, fashion, and even footwear.
For Big Steppa Lani, the journey is about more than just music. It’s about turning her experiences, creativity, and ambition into something lasting—one step at a time.
