Ruben Seven’s story begins in Cleveland, but it’s defined by resilience more than location. He was the seventh of seven children — the only one who survived. By the age of 12, he was homeless. Where many would have folded under that weight, Ruben endured. He survived.
Music was present long before he ever stepped into a studio. His father was an artist, and that early exposure planted a seed. Ruben has been connected to music since childhood. Influenced by too many artists to name, he absorbed inspiration from everywhere, shaping it into something personal. When asked to describe his sound in one word, he keeps it simple: honest.
That honesty is rooted in lived experience. Growing up, he spent time in local nightclubs back when nights felt safer and more carefree. Those environments, the energy, and the stories they carried would later find their way into his music.
Ruben has recorded songs both in Cleveland and internationally in Sydney, Australia, expanding his reach while staying grounded in his truth. No matter the city, the message remains the same — real life, real emotion.
His most recent release, SAD FAD, continues that approach. The record reflects the perspective of someone who has seen hardship firsthand and refuses to pretend otherwise. And he’s not slowing down. New music is on the way.
Along his journey, Ruben credits several people who played a role in his growth, including TFD, Young Noble of the Outlawz, Ronnie Riskalla, Yolandi Franken, Wayne Chandler, Dubb Flex, Mediaquarium’s Alex Denis, and Sherman Williams.
From surviving homelessness at 12 to building an international recording footprint, Ruben Seven’s path hasn’t been easy. But it’s real. And that reality is exactly what fuels his music.
