Lioness of Yah’s journey didn’t start in a studio—it started in the church. Raised in a deeply religious household, her early years were structured around faith, discipline, and devotion. Sundays and Wednesdays were reserved for church, and it was within those walls that music first found her. Long before she ever recorded a song, music was already shaping her spirit.
Originally from Palmdale, California, Lioness of Yah moved around during her formative years, spending time in Corona during high school before eventually settling in San Bernardino, where she is currently based. Each city added another layer to her identity, but faith remained the constant. Watching The Jackson 5: An American Dream lit the spark that changed everything. From that moment on, Michael Jackson became her role model—not just for his talent, but for his ability to move people through sound.
By the age of six, she was already teaching herself how to play the drums. That dedication carried her straight into her local church, where she became a drummer and later joined the praise team. Singing at age twelve helped her discover her voice, not just technically, but emotionally. Music stopped being something she admired—it became something she lived.
With an older brother involved in the local rap scene, Lioness of Yah naturally gravitated toward hip-hop. Freestyling alongside him pushed her to start writing her own lyrics, blending honesty, faith, and real-life perspective. Even while expanding musically, she never let go of her foundation—continuing with drums through junior high and high school marching band, sharpening her rhythm and discipline.
After graduating high school, her focus shifted from learning music to creating it. Recording her own material became a priority, and mentorship from Fresno rapper B.Wash helped shape the sound she’s now known for. Together, they developed a style rooted in R&B, hip-hop, and gospel—music that carries weight, message, and intention. Lioness of Yah’s approach has always been eclectic, but purposeful. She isn’t chasing trends; she’s searching for a sound that moves with positive force.
That mission comes into full focus with her new EP, War Ready 2, presented by We The Flyy Ent. The six-track project—featuring a bonus record titled “Fat Tuesday”—is a continuation of her calling. With features from Cali Kash, King Chai, Nonameservant, Anaviel The Servant, and CrossoverMusik, the EP reflects unity, collaboration, and shared purpose. Each record contributes to a larger message: preparation, resilience, and spiritual readiness.
For Lioness of Yah, music is ministry. Her goal isn’t just to be heard—it’s to reach people. As she puts it, “We are here to continue making disciples out of all nations, one song at a time.” That philosophy has guided every step of her journey and is deeply embedded in War Ready 2.
