Growing up in Westmont before moving to the heart of the Crenshaw District at age ten, music and community shaped every step of his life. With a Jamaican father who DJed at local parties, he was no stranger to the pulse of the crowd, often finding himself amidst the beats and rhythms that would later inform his artistry. Life at home was a hub of activity, with uncles, aunties, and his grandmother all living under one roof, teaching him early on about family, responsibility, and resilience. Football became his first outlet at eight, but it was his grandfather’s guidance that left a lasting impression, instilling in him the values of manhood and perseverance.
Creativity ran parallel to his upbringing. Attending CLAS, a school that encouraged artistic expression, he honed his voice and storytelling instincts, though it wasn’t until his senior year of high school that he began recording music professionally. Drawing inspiration from legends like Tupac, Nas, Nipsey Hussle, A Boogie, and even Michael Jackson, his sound blends reality-driven storytelling with raw, unfiltered emotion, often layered over soulful beats.
His musical journey has been deeply tied to the city of Los Angeles. From the Bridge and Fox Hills to Del Amo events and the skating rink World on Wheels, he soaked in the local culture and street life that would later fuel his lyrics. Most recently, he has been recording at RZN Studios in downtown LA, crafting a body of work that feels both personal and universal.
His latest release, Straight To The Chase, is a culmination of years of growth and reflection. The project dives into themes of family, love, loss, and the grind required to make it, marking what he considers some of his best work to date. But beyond the music, his journey is anchored in loyalty and support. His family—his brothers Troop, Marv, and AB (his brother and manager), his uncle DJ Goofy, his mother, partner, and sons—has been instrumental in shaping not only his career but the man he has become. “Without them, there would be no me,” he says, acknowledging the network of love, guidance, and collaboration that propels him forward.
In a city overflowing with talent, his music stands out not because it follows trends, but because it tells the truth of where he comes from and what he’s been through. It’s the intersection of personal history, street knowledge, and soulful storytelling that makes his voice unmistakable—and impossible to ignore.
