FROM ENTREPRENEUR TO ARTIST: SD LASHON’S JOURNEY

Gardena native SD Lashon is building her name through discipline, consistency, and self-made growth. Before music, her focus was on basketball, which she played through college. At 20, she began working at an oil refinery while steadily expanding into business.

Since 2019, SD Lashon has developed multiple ventures. She launched a party bus company, starting with an 18-passenger vehicle and expanding to a 50-passenger bus the following year. In 2021, she added same-day passport services. By 2022, she entered the Airbnb space with a five-bedroom, three-bath property. In 2023, she secured her first dealership, buying and selling cars and helping others obtain dealer licenses, while also adding a sprinter van for rental services. In 2024, she opened a retail space at the Slauson Swap Meet called the Swank Shop.

That same year, SD Lashon set a personal goal to create a music project for her birthday. She began recording in July 2024 and followed through by releasing a 15-track album featuring several Los Angeles artists. What started as a goal quickly turned into a growing career. Although she initially planned to stop after the project, the response to her music led her to continue, with encouragement from EastSide K Boy, who also became a mentor.

Now a year and a half into music, SD Lashon has taken full control of her creative process. She built her own recording space, Swank Studios, which began in the living room of her Airbnb and has since developed into a full studio. An official grand opening is planned for June 2026. She is also learning to produce her own beats, keeping everything in-house.

Her sound blends R&B and rap, with a strong melodic and versatile approach. Her latest release, “IN MY FEELINGS,” is a solo project that highlights her R&B side with no features.

Looking ahead, SD Lashon is focused on consistency. She plans to release at least one song every month and currently has over 50 unreleased tracks. She is also preparing a new EP titled “STOP PLAYING WITH ME,” set to drop on August 5.

Along the way, she credits EastSide K Boy, CallMePhats, Kevin McCall, Lilwil, John Wall, Leanilla, Jroc, Ladyyy, Chefboy, Tracy Green, and Lsonne for their support. She also acknowledges ShotByShlay for capturing behind-the-scenes content and K-Twist, her engineer since day one.

With a growing catalog, multiple businesses, and full creative control, SD Lashon continues to build her brand on her own terms.
