Raised in Little Haiti, Miami, Florida, Porter Ave comes from a Haitian household where family and survival shaped his outlook early. Born with a twin brother, life in Miami was fast and unpredictable. From a young age, he learned the importance of hustling and looking out for his family. Music was always around him, but along the way he lost focus and stepped away from it for a time. Now he’s returned with a clearer mind and a deeper purpose, using music to speak on real life — the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Porter Ave began making music at the age of 19. Early inspiration came from listening to artists like Lil Wayne, who first pushed him toward rapping. Growing up, he also studied the music and messages of Tupac Shakur, Nas, and Jay‑Z, artists known for telling powerful stories through their lyrics.
He describes his sound as “mental health music.” His records focus on honest thoughts, struggles, and experiences that reflect real life. Much of the music he has released so far was recorded at BayEight Recording Studio in North Miami, Florida, where he developed the sound he’s building today.
Growing up, most of his free time was spent around the local basketball courts or in the strip clubs around the city — places that were part of the environment that shaped his perspective and the stories he tells in his music.
Porter Ave’s most recent release is his EP titled All For Not. The project marks a new chapter as he returns to music with a stronger sense of direction. Fans can also look forward to more music soon, including the All For Not EP release in March followed by his upcoming Brainwashh mixtape scheduled for April.
As he continues his journey, Porter Ave gives credit to the person who has been by his side from the beginning — his twin brother, REB5L (Rebel Number 5) — for the support and motivation along the way.
