KYON BALL

We sat down and asked “Kyon Ball” a few question’s for his fan’s to get a deeper look at his upbringing. 

Q: What City Are You From?

Kyon Ball: Im originally born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina. I’m currently residing in Los Angeles, California. 

Q: When Did You Start Making Music?

Kyon Ball: My journey in music started in church when I was seven years old. That’s when I first got behind a drum set and honestly, I haven’t looked back since. 

Q: Tell us about your childhood?

Kyon Ball : I started playing piano, keyboard, guitar, ukulele, really whatever I can get my hands on. In elementary school I joined a street band and played instruments like steel pans, djembes and timpani. That experience gave me a real appreciation for sound from different cultures and styles. By the time I got to middle school, I was deep into traditional band, playing percussion all the way through high school. When I was 15 I wrote my first song on guitar. Which was a turning point for me, up until then I knew I loved music, but writing that song made me realize this isn’t just a hobby. 

Q: What artist did you grow up listening to that inspired your sound?

Kyon Ball: Tory Lanez | Summer Walker | Bryson Tiller | Chris Brown | H.E.R | Tank | Lucky Daye

Q: Where did you first start recording music?

Kyon Ball : After graduating high school I got into music production. I started off experimenting at home, making beats, writing songs, and recording vocals in my room.

Kyon Ball: Maur Kii | Con Killion | Sagathe9th

Q: If you could explain your sound how would you?

Kyon Ball : I blend the soulful roots I got from church with the rhythmic foundation of my percussion background and the freedom of self-produced sound. Whether it’s R&B, Gospel, Pop, or a mix of it all. I’m always chasing that feeling of connection and truth through music. 

Q: What is your most recent release?

Kyon Ball: My latest single is “Solana Beach//My Type”, which dropped on June 7th. It had been a while I put music out, but that break wasn’t downtime, it was a time of refining. 

Q: Do you have anything coming up?

Kyon Ball: New music coming sooner than later.
