Proton’s story doesn’t come from one place — it’s shaped by movement, influence, and lived experience. Born in Palmerton, Pennsylvania and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, his journey into music started almost as early as memory itself. By the age of five, he was already surrounded by instruments and melodies. By twelve or thirteen, those early sounds turned into full songs, written with intention and purpose.
Growing up, Proton didn’t box himself into one genre. His musical education came from everywhere. Red Hot Chili Peppers, LL Cool J, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Bob Marley, and Pink Floyd all played a role in shaping his ear. That wide range of influences planted the foundation for a sound rooted in storytelling, emotional honesty, and genre-blending creativity.
Today, Proton describes his music as truthful narration — authentic, melodic, and lyrical. His songs balance smooth vocal moments with hard-hitting bars, creating something accessible while still speaking directly to those who’ve faced real struggles. It’s music meant to connect, not just entertain.
The process behind that sound has evolved just as much as the artist himself. Early recordings came from makeshift setups — blankets on the wall and closet doors used to trap sound. Now, Proton records out of his own studio, fully built and designed by him. It’s a reflection of growth, independence, and belief in his craft.
Raleigh also left its mark on his journey. As a kid, Proton spent his time riding bikes across town, always exploring. His house was often the gathering spot, later transitioning into nights out at Lucky B’s, Glenwood, and various after-hours spots where creative energy stayed alive.
As the year comes to a close, Proton is preparing to release his newest project, “LOVE IT,” dropping on New Year’s Eve. The release represents more than just new music — it signals a refined chapter of his artistry. Alongside this upcoming drop, he recently released a collaborative EP titled The Terrors, continuing to show his versatility and willingness to build with others.
Looking ahead, Proton has no plans to slow down. Fans can expect rock-influenced singles backed by a full band, major collaborations across different states, and a return to his signature sound with classic Proton singles in the works.
When it comes to acknowledging the people who helped shape his journey, Proton keeps it real. He credits Ansel as his first producer — the person who believed in his vision as early as 2014. EddieLo gave him his first chance to perform live in 2022, a moment that changed everything. And Shane, also known as MadHunny, continues to support the dream and push the mission forward.
