Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Breskii has always represented the city that shaped her. Growing up in Four Seasons, she spent time throughout different parts of Atlanta, including Fourth Ward, Inglewood, and other areas. As a child, she described herself as an outside girl who enjoyed dancing, being around friends, and staying in the mix. She even tried cheerleading at one point, but she was more comfortable having fun and enjoying life with the people around her.
By the age of 14, Breskii had begun experiencing life on a different level, stepping into the streets at a young age and learning lessons that would help shape the woman she would become. Throughout her upbringing, her family played a major role in developing her character. She describes her mother as a hardworking woman who always put her children first, instilling values of honesty, loyalty, and respect. Her father, Shawty Giant, was also a respected figure in Atlanta who taught her the importance of being herself and treating people with kindness.
While those lessons helped build her foundation, Breskii has also experienced profound personal loss. In recent years, she has endured the passing of her mother, grandmother, father, and brother. Losing several of the people closest to her has been a difficult part of her journey, but she continues to carry their influence with her. In honor of her mother, who passed away from liver cancer, Breskii established the A.D. Smith Foundation to raise awareness, educate the community, and support those affected by liver cancer and gun violence. Through this work, she is turning her pain into a purpose that extends beyond music.
Interestingly, Breskii’s entrance into the music industry was never something she had planned. Before her recent success, she had never recorded music. Her journey began when she visited the studio with her sister and producer Metro Boomin, where she recorded her first vocals for a song called “Butterflies.” What started as an unexpected studio experience soon opened the door to an entirely new chapter in her life.
Not long after, Breskii found herself in the studio while Metro Boomin and others were working on the beat for “Take Me Thru Dere.” What followed was a spontaneous moment that helped introduce her to a much wider audience. Without years of recording experience or a traditional path into the industry, she brought an energy that connected with listeners and helped turn the record into a viral moment.
The song quickly gained traction on TikTok, with children, athletes, and people across different audiences embracing its memorable phrase. Its reach continued to grow beyond Atlanta, while the high-energy music video captured the community spirit and fun that helped make the record stand out. Although she faced online criticism from people questioning her as a new artist, Breskii also received overwhelming support from Atlanta and beyond. That momentum helped push “Take Me Thru Dere” onto the Billboard Hot 100, marking a major milestone in her early music career.
For Breskii, the motivation behind pursuing music was also personal. As a mother, she wanted to create more financial opportunities so she could better provide for her son. What began as an unexpected experience in the studio quickly developed into an opportunity to build something meaningful for herself and her family.
Rather than trying to fit into the traditional image of a rapper or prove herself through a particular style of lyricism, Breskii has embraced what comes naturally to her. Her goal is to bring fun back to the club scene and create music that makes people want to move, enjoy themselves, and connect with the moment. That authenticity has become an important part of her identity as she continues to find her place in the industry.
From growing up in Atlanta to navigating unimaginable losses and discovering music when she least expected it, Breskii’s journey is a reminder that sometimes the biggest opportunities come from the most unexpected places. With her city behind her, her family’s lessons guiding her, and a growing audience discovering her sound, she is continuing to turn a spontaneous beginning into a lasting opportunity.
