Compton legend Compton AV links up with veteran Eastside Long Beach producer Steelz for their new collaborative album, “Summer 26,” currently available on all streaming platforms.
Executive produced by Steelz, the 13-track project brings together a strong lineup of features, including India Love, Natalie Nunn, Lola Brooke, Blueface, 310babii, Snoop Dogg, La Biggie, Ty Dolla $ign, Maka, Big Sad 1900, Mariahlynn, Haiti Babii, and DaBoii. The album was mixed by iREZ, with artwork by Castro Design.
The album opens with “Intro,” a heartfelt record that feels like both reflection and a statement. AV looks back at the blood, sweat, and tears that went into his career while speaking on the noise that comes with making it this far. The closing line, “These ni**as will try to play if you let ’em, so I tell ’em. Give me my flowers while I can smell ’em,” sets the tone for what follows.
Then “UGFT” immediately turns the energy back up. It’s a party record made for pool parties, clubs, events, and late summer nights. The transition shows AV’s ability to move from personal moments into records built to make noise without losing his identity.
After “Time Of Your Life,” AV switches things up again with a skit that adds some comedy and personality to the project. It gives the album another layer and makes the listening experience feel more like you’re getting the full personality behind the music.
Then comes “YaYa,” the hit record that has already been making noise around the world. Coming into the album with that momentum, the record feels right at home alongside the rest of the project.
As someone from the West Coast myself, one of my personal favorites is “Letter 2 Nip” featuring one of the hottest artists coming out of West LA, Big Sad 1900. The record carries a different weight and gives the album another meaningful moment while staying true to the West Coast sound.
Throughout “Summer 26,” Compton AV shows his versatility, star power, and ability to rap at a high level while keeping the energy moving. From the personal opening record to the hit records and summer-ready cuts, the album gives you different sides of AV without straying too far from what makes him who he is.
