Lizthoughh’s story begins in Long Beach, California, where she grew up as the quiet girl with a lot on her mind. While she didn’t say much, life around her spoke loudly. Being shy often made her a target, and she was constantly underestimated because of her quiet nature. On top of that, she faced criticism and disrespect for being dark-skinned, experiences that fueled anger she struggled to understand at a young age.
That anger often led to fights. One of the moments she remembers most was after a boy spit in her face, leading to a brutal altercation that landed her in detention for two weeks while he was suspended. Instead of letting those moments define her, she found an outlet. During those detention days, she began writing. Music became more than a hobby—it became a place where she could release emotions that therapy alone couldn’t always reach.
Even before she started recording, music had already become part of her daily life. Growing up, she listened to everything from 1960s classics to early 2000s records, giving her a wide appreciation for different sounds. On the way to school, she would often play instrumentals, imagining melodies and cadences in her head. As she continued writing lyrics over those beats, she realized music wasn’t just something she enjoyed—it was what she was meant to do.
Lizthoughh began writing songs at just 11 years old before stepping into the studio to record them at 14. Along the way, she drew inspiration from artists like Nipsey Hussle, Drake, Dom Kennedy, Drakeo the Ruler, Whitney Houston, SWV, and Left Eye of TLC. Each artist influenced her in different ways, helping shape both her creativity and confidence.
Although inspired by many, Lizthoughh believes her sound is unmistakably her own. She describes it as authentic West Coast music with a distinct voice that immediately lets listeners know where she’s from. Whether it’s her delivery, production, or cadence, she takes pride in creating music that doesn’t sound like anyone else.
Most of the music she’s released has been recorded either in a professional studio or from the comfort of her home studio, allowing her to create wherever inspiration strikes.
Outside of music, some of her favorite memories growing up came from spending time around Long Beach. After school at Franklin Classical Middle School, she and her friends would regularly stop by Hamburger Dan’s to eat and hang out. Pete’s Market, located across the street from the school, was another go-to spot for grabbing snacks and spending time together. She also enjoyed visiting The Pike, one of Long Beach’s popular destinations for shopping, food, and movies.
Today, Lizthoughh continues building her catalog with the release of her latest EP, THE CHIN… NOT THE HEART, a project that reflects both her growth and the experiences that shaped her. Fans can also look forward to two upcoming singles, “TAKE YA TIME” and “DON’T STOP EVER LOVIN ME,” as she continues carving out her own lane.
As she reflects on her journey, Lizthoughh gives thanks first to God for carrying her through every challenge she’s faced. She also credits her mother and father, whose unwavering support has been a constant source of strength throughout her pursuit of music.
