Real Life, Real Music: Inside the World of P.S. The Great

“P.S. The Great” was born and raised on the Northside of Las Vegas—a side of the city most tourists never see, far removed from the lights of the Strip. It’s an environment shaped by poverty, loss, and survival. Growing up in those conditions, he had no choice but to mature early, learning how to adapt or risk becoming a product of it.

Music found him at home. His father was a DJ, with stacks of records and a set of Techniques turntables always within reach. When his father was away, P.S. would sneak in to practice, digging through crates and studying sound. The white label records stood out the most—raw and unfiltered. Through them, he was introduced to artists like NasThe Notorious B.I.G.Too ShortE-40Ras KassDilated PeoplesMadlibJ DillaMF DOOMMac Dre, and 2Pac—a lineup that would shape his ear and push him toward creating music of his own.

By 17, he had already started recording. His time was split between key local spots like Doolittle Gym, the Hip Hop Site, and even the Strip—each place adding a different layer to his perspective and sound.

Over the years, P.S. The Great built his own home studios, staying hands-on with every part of the process. He records, produces, and crafts his music independently. His style is best described as hard, grimy, and real, balanced with moments of humor and cynicism that reflect both his personality and his experiences.

His latest release, “Wayback,” is fully written and produced by him, continuing that raw and personal approach. He’s currently working on a solo project set for release in the second quarter, along with a follow-up to I90, his collaborative project with Grand Padre.

Through it all, he credits GrandPadre and NapsNDreds for pushing him to stay focused and keep going, no matter what life throws his way.
