Growing up, $ICKO says his childhood involved moving around a lot. Through it all, he mostly stayed out of the spotlight and kept to himself, learning life from the ground up. That mindset carried into his music and shaped the way he approaches his career today.
His passion for rap started early. At just nine years old, he began recording himself on a Blackberry phone using the voice memo feature. What started as a simple way to capture ideas eventually turned into a serious pursuit. Over time, those early recordings helped him develop his craft and build the confidence to take things further.
Like many artists from the South, $ICKO drew inspiration from some of the most respected names in hip-hop. Artists like Lil Wayne, Boosie Badazz, Kevin Gates, and Curren$y played a major role in shaping his perspective. He also points to Babyface Ray and the Detroit sound as influences that expanded how he looks at music.
When it comes to his own style, DOLLA $IGN $ICKO doesn’t try to box himself into one lane. Instead, he embraces versatility. When he wasn’t focused on music or absorbing game from those around him, you could usually find him on the basketball court.
His newest release, “2000 Wayne,” represents another step forward in his growing catalog. The record reflects both his influences and his evolving sound as he continues to develop as an artist.
