Originally from Columbia, South Carolina and now based in Los Angeles, Kyon Ball’s musical foundation began early. At just seven years old, he started playing drums in church, a moment that shaped his path moving forward. From there, he expanded into multiple instruments, including piano, guitar, and ukulele, building a deep understanding of music across different styles.
His early years were filled with hands-on experience. In elementary school, he joined a street band where he played steel pans, djembes, and timpani, gaining exposure to diverse sounds and cultural influences. By middle school and into high school, he continued developing as a percussionist in traditional band programs. At 15, he wrote his first song on guitar, marking a turning point that shifted music from a passion into a purpose.
After graduating, Kyon Ball began producing and recording on his own, experimenting with beats and vocals from home. That independence still shapes his creative process today.
Sonically, Kyon Ball draws inspiration from artists like Tory Lanez, Summer Walker, Bryson Tiller, Chris Brown, H.E.R., Tank, and Lucky Daye. However, his sound stands on its own—blending soulful roots from church with rhythmic elements from his percussion background and the freedom of self-production.
