Originally from Bridgeton, Ze’Nya Butler Known by as XXNYA, moved to Richmond at the age of five, a city she proudly calls home. At 29, Xxnya brings a unique perspective to music, balancing artistry with discipline, holding a master’s degree in cybersecurity while building her career as an independent artist. Despite only making music for three years, she continues to prove that passion and purpose can move fast when the vision is clear.
What makes Dirt & Diamonds stand out is how personal it is. Xxnya not only wrote and produced the album herself, but also designed the cover art, making this project a true reflection of her creative identity. The 10-track album tells a story of struggle, heartbreak, healing, and growth.
The title captures the heart of the project. “Dirt” represents pain, setbacks, and life’s hardest seasons, while “Diamond” symbolizes strength, healing, self-discovery, and purpose. Together, they tell the story of someone who refused to let pressure break them and instead allowed it to shape them.
Production from Sauced by Duck helps bring key records like Loading and Back Then to life, adding depth to the album’s emotional core. Features from Jay-Walk, Lucciano, RayRay, and HBK JohnDoe—all artists from Richmond—add strong hometown energy throughout the project. Jay-Walk and Lucciano also represent Ze’Nya’s label, Anti Family, reinforcing the community behind the music.
The rollout has been just as impressive as the music itself, with visuals already released for all 10 songs on YouTube, along with an in-depth interview on Ze’Nya’s channel where she breaks down the meaning behind the album.
At its core, Dirt & Diamonds carries a message many people can relate to: struggle does not define you—it refines you. Xxnya delivers a project rooted in honesty, strength, and self-awareness, reminding listeners that even under pressure, something powerful can be created.
