Born and raised in the Clinton Hill and Fort Greene neighborhoods of Brooklyn, New York, Dee Pesos is an artist whose music reflects the experiences that shaped him. Music has always been part of Dee Pesos’ life. Before stepping into a recording studio, he was already surrounded by music through church, where he learned to play the drums and sang in the choir. That foundation gave him a genuine love for music long before he ever considered becoming a rapper.
Around the age of 19 or 20, he decided to take music seriously alongside his cousin, Millz. At the same time, watching one of his closest friends, Pop Smoke, pursue his dream and achieve worldwide success gave Dee Pesos the confidence to believe that someone from his neighborhood could do the same. That inspiration pushed him to stop thinking about making music and start creating it. Since then, he’s remained focused on finding his own voice and growing with every record.
His musical influences come from every stage of his life. Drake has always been his favorite artist because of his versatility, consistency, and ability to connect with listeners through both rap and melody. He also draws inspiration from artists like Don Toliver, Travis Scott, Lil Durk, and Pop Smoke for their emotion and melodic style. Before that, he grew up listening to legends including Lil Wayne, Fabolous, Jay-Z, Dipset, 50 Cent, and Max B. While each artist left an impression on him, Dee Pesos has always been committed to creating a sound that’s uniquely his own.
He describes his music as melodic, versatile, and emotional. Whether he’s making a late-night record, a club anthem, or something deeply personal, his goal is always the same: to make listeners feel something. By blending melodic vocals with honest storytelling and hard-hitting rap, he’s creating music that’s both authentic and relatable.
Most of the music Dee Pesos has released was recorded in Brooklyn. Creating in his hometown keeps him connected to his roots and gives him the energy and inspiration that fuels his creativity. The culture, the people, and the atmosphere of New York continue to play a major role in shaping his sound.
Outside of music, church was one of the places where he spent much of his time growing up. It wasn’t just where he learned to play the drums and sing—it also became the place where his passion for music truly developed. At the same time, living in Brooklyn gave him a front-row seat to the realities of everyday life. Watching families work hard, overcome struggles, and keep pushing forward gave him a balanced perspective that continues to influence the music he creates today.
His latest release, “Decline,” comes from a personal experience. The record was inspired by a moment when his girlfriend kept declining his calls while all he wanted was the chance to communicate and express how he felt. Instead of letting those emotions fade, he turned them into music. “Decline” speaks on vulnerability, communication, and the desire to make things right—feelings that many listeners can relate to.
Looking ahead, Dee Pesos is already focused on his next EP. While the project doesn’t have an official title yet, he’s taking his time to make sure it’s his strongest body of work to date. He promises fans a project that reflects his growth, showcases his versatility, and delivers a sound that’s true to who he is as an artist.
