Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Toe Moneyyy’s story begins in North Memphis, where she grew up as the youngest of seven children. Her upbringing was different from most. From elementary school through sixth grade, she attended Catholic school, while developing a personality and vision that always made her stand apart.
Even as a child, Toe Moneyyy knew she was destined for something bigger. She describes herself as a visionary kid with big dreams and a strong belief that one day she would become somebody important. That mindset stayed with her as she grew older and eventually found its way into her music.
Growing up in North Memphis, places like Greenlaw Community Center and Roxie’s became familiar hangout spots where she spent time and made memories. Her environment, experiences and the culture around her all played a role in shaping the person she would become.
Music was always a major part of her life. Toe Moneyyy grew up listening to a wide range of artists and developed a genuine love for good music. Among the artists who inspired her were Memphis legends Yo Gotti, Young Dolph, Three 6 Mafia, Project Pat and Lil Chat. Their influence helped shape her appreciation for authenticity and the sound of her city.
At 21, Toe Moneyyy officially began making music. Most of her music has been recorded at a private studio, giving her the space to focus on her craft and develop her own sound. If she had to describe that sound in one word, it would be simple: Authentic.
That authenticity is also at the center of her latest release, Authentically Me. The title speaks for itself, representing an artist who isn’t trying to be anyone else and is comfortable standing on who she is and what she brings to the table.
Now, Toe Moneyyy is continuing to build while staying true to the vision she had as a young girl. Her journey hasn’t always been easy, especially with people doubting her along the way, but she never gave up.
As she puts it, she gives a shout-out to herself for continuing to push forward, and to God for always being in her corner. For Toe Moneyyy, the message is simple: as long as she continues to believe in herself, anything is possible.
