The Story Behind the Artist: The Journey Of Hotboii

Born and raised in West Orlando, Hotboii’s story starts far away from the version of Orlando most people know. His childhood was shaped by public housing, the PJs, family, and the lessons that came with growing up in an environment where learning how to stand on your own was important.

Hotboii spent time living with his father, while his mother remained one of the biggest sources of support throughout his upbringing. She played an important role in his early journey, even helping him upload some of his first videos. Beyond music, she taught him how to handle difficult situations and navigate life when things didn’t always go as planned.

Growing up in West Orlando gave Hotboii a different perspective on the city. While Orlando is often recognized for tourism and entertainment, his experience was rooted in neighborhoods and public housing. Those surroundings became part of his story and helped shape the way he viewed life, independence and the challenges that came with growing up.

Music entered his life early. During his 7th and 8th-grade years, Lil Wayne became one of his biggest inspirations. Wayne’s music showed Hotboii what was possible and gave him an artist to look up to while he was still finding his own voice.

Before he ever officially released music, Hotboii was already making videos. He would create songs mainly for a small circle of about 20 friends. At first, he wasn’t necessarily thinking about building a career or becoming a professional artist. He was simply creating because he enjoyed it.

Even the name Hotboii wasn’t something he originally planned to use professionally. The name stuck after people around him began associating him with “hot stuff.” As more people heard the music and encouraged him to release the songs he was sharing, the idea of taking music seriously started to become real.

From there, everything began to grow naturally.

Hotboii’s rise wasn’t built around forcing a moment. His music started spreading through word-of-mouth, social media, local support and people playing his songs in Orlando clubs. The more people shared his videos and played his music, the more his name continued to move. What started with a small circle of friends slowly expanded into a much bigger audience.

That organic momentum eventually caught the attention of the industry. One of the biggest moments in his journey came when he connected with Lil Baby for a remix, marking his first major feature and another step forward in his career.

Throughout his journey, Hotboii has continued building a catalog that reflects his growth and his experiences. Songs like “Don’t Need Time,” “Nobody Special,” “Alicia,” “WTF,” “I Really,” “Da Goat,” “Live Life Die Faster,” “Goat Talk” and “Writing My Wrongs” have all played a role in his story and helped establish his sound.

Now, Hotboii continues that journey with his latest album, Kut Da Fan On 2. The 19-track project features YNW Melly, Lil Baby and YTB Fatt, adding another chapter to a career that started with videos, a small group of friends and a young artist simply finding his voice.
