Coming out of Tallahassee, Florida, TYTE’s story with music started long before he ever stepped into a recording studio. His roots were built around family, sports, and a strong connection to his father, who played a major role in shaping the person and artist he would become.
As a kid, TYTE was active in sports. Baseball became one of his biggest interests, where he played both pitcher and shortstop. He also played slot receiver in football during middle school. Basketball, however, was never really his thing. TYTE jokes that despite his height, he never had much of a game on the court.
Music entered his life at just five years old. One day, he heard his father and uncle freestyling in the kitchen. The moment stuck with him. The following morning, TYTE wrote his first rap, beginning a journey that would eventually become his career.
His father remained one of his biggest influences throughout that journey. Always involved in his life and career, he became TYTE’s first fan and one of the people who helped push him toward becoming the man and artist he is today.
By the time TYTE was 13, he was already recording in a professional studio. Those early sessions taught him more than just how to make music. He learned the importance of preparation, including having his verses written and ready before stepping behind the microphone.
As he developed his own sound, TYTE began describing his music as “high quality street music,” combining his experiences with a distinct Florida sound. His style reflects where he comes from while still giving listeners something personal and authentic.
In 2017, TYTE gained significant regional attention and experienced his first viral success with the release of “Florida.” The record helped put his name on a larger radar and became an important moment in his growth as an artist.
He continued building from there, eventually releasing one of his early albums, Sincerely 3, Pt. 1, in 2020. Rather than rushing the process, TYTE continued developing his sound, catalog, and presence while staying connected to the Florida culture that helped shape him.
That progression led to his 2024 album, COACH OF FLORIDA. The project features an impressive lineup, including Boosie BadAzz, Wizz Havinn, Bobby Fishscale, Jackboy, Trigga500k, and Greg Street.
Throughout his journey, TYTE has continued to build a catalog filled with records that represent different stages of his career, including “Motion,” “FYP,” “Paper Straight,” “Take The Rubber Off,” “Get It 2,” “Top 5,” “Get It,” “In Route,” “Major,” and more.
From freestyling in his family’s kitchen at five years old to recording professionally as a teenager and eventually earning regional recognition, TYTE’s story is rooted in consistency. His upbringing, his father’s influence, his experiences in Tallahassee, and his dedication to his craft have all played a role in the artist he is today.
