For Demon’, the journey to becoming an artist started long before he ever took music seriously. Born in Tampa, Florida, and moving to Houston, Texas at 14, his childhood was shaped by struggle, family, and watching his mother do whatever it took to keep their household together.
Growing up, Demon’ and his little sister were raised by a single mother who worked two jobs to keep everything afloat. Stability wasn’t always guaranteed. For the majority of his early years, they moved from place to place, making the most out of whatever situation they were in.
At one point, the family lived in a one-bedroom apartment. Demon’ and his sister slept on a pallet in the bedroom while their mother slept on the couch in the living room. It wasn’t an easy way to grow up, but those experiences gave him an appreciation for family, sacrifice, and the importance of creating something better.
Music was always somewhere in the background. Demon’ has been making music since he was a kid, but around 17, he began taking it seriously. Now 26, he has had years to develop his sound, find his voice, and understand what he wants his music to represent.
Growing up, he listened to artists like Drake, Russ, Lil Wayne, and Bryson Tiller. Each brought something different to the table, from songwriting and storytelling to emotion and melody. Those influences helped shape Demon’s approach as he began creating music of his own.
When it comes to describing his sound, Demon’ keeps it simple: soothing and relatable. His goal isn’t to make music that only speaks to one type of person. He wants listeners to hear themselves in his records and connect with the experiences, emotions, and situations he puts into his music.
Interestingly, a lot of that music was recorded right in his bedroom. Without needing a major studio setup to get started, Demon’ used what he had and continued creating. That bedroom became one of the places where he developed his craft and continued turning ideas into songs.
Outside of music, one of his favorite childhood hangout spots was the skating rink. It was a simple part of growing up, but those everyday experiences helped make up the life that eventually became the foundation for his music.
Now, Demon’ is entering another stage of his career. His most recent release, “Repeat” featuring Sy Ari Da Kid, gives listeners another look at where he is creatively and where he’s headed next.
And he’s not slowing down.
Demon’ and his team are preparing to release music consistently through the end of the year, with plans for another 10 to 12 singles and possibly a new project. It’s a busy stretch, but it’s also an important one as he continues building his catalog and reaching more listeners.
Behind that journey is a group of people Demon’ says have played a major role in helping him get to this point. He gives a special shoutout to the LFTP Studios family, his best friend Chris, his cameraman Phil, and his son, Demon’. He also acknowledges his immediate family, including OJ, Pops, and all of his sisters and brothers.
Most importantly, he gives credit to the mother of his child. Demon’ makes it clear that her support has been a major part of his ability to pursue music and chase his dreams.
