Growing up on the Westside of Atlanta, specifically in a neighborhood known as the Bluff, BHM Pezzy learned early that life could come with challenges. It was an environment where adapting quickly was a part of survival, and the lessons he picked up growing up would eventually shape both his perspective and his music.
As a kid, Pezzy spent time doing what many kids do, playing basketball, running around with friends, and playing cops and robbers. Looking back, he also remembers getting into trouble and being around situations he understands differently now that he is older. By the age of 13, he was already seeing the realities of street life up close. Around 15, he became more involved in that environment, but he made an effort to move smarter than others his age. Watching the older guys in his neighborhood allowed him to learn from their experiences and recognize mistakes he didn’t want to repeat.
Music became another outlet for Pezzy at an early age. Around 13, while spending time on Atlanta’s Eastside, he started freestyling with a local artist named Steve. What began as something to do with friends gradually grew into a serious passion. By 16 or 17, Pezzy was investing his own money into studio time, showing that he was ready to take his craft beyond just a hobby.
When it comes to musical inspiration, Pezzy has a strong appreciation for artists who know how to tell a story. Kevin Gates is one of his biggest influences in that regard. He admires the way Gates turns personal experiences into music, making listeners feel connected to the stories behind the lyrics. That admiration became an unforgettable moment when Kevin Gates played Pezzy’s music during an Instagram Live session. For an artist who respects his storytelling ability, having someone he looks up to acknowledge his music meant something special.
Pezzy’s musical taste also stretches beyond rap. He listens to different genres and artists, even naming Selena Gomez as an example of how broad his interests are. That range of influences helps shape his approach to making music. Rather than following the typical Atlanta sound, he wants to create something that feels like his own. He draws inspiration from the way Lil Wayne constructs his bars, plays with words, and builds a flow around his individuality. For Pezzy, having his own sound is just as important as having something to say.
As he continued developing his craft, records like “Astronaut” and “Webbie Flow” became some of the first songs to gain real attention. Those releases helped introduce more listeners to his sound and laid the groundwork for what he is building today.
His latest single, “GreyFam,” represents another step forward. The title stands for “Get Rich Every Year,” a message centered on motivation, growth, and creating something meaningful for his team and family. The record started gaining viral attention after Pezzy previewed it on TikTok, before receiving another boost through a live performance on DDG’s Hit-a-Thon 2.
