Emerging from Columbus, Georgia, Mystori is an independent artist whose sound is rooted in gospel, classic soul, and R&B. Raised in a family where music was a part of everyday life, she developed an early appreciation for melody, lyricism, and the emotions that make a song meaningful.
Mystori grew up surrounded by music, from hearing her grandmother sing and worship around the house to singing hymns with her grandparents. Family car rides filled with gospel, soul, and R&B further shaped her musical foundation. By the age of two or three, her family had already noticed her natural awareness of lyrics and melodies, giving them an early glimpse of the artist she would become.
Her musical journey continued through the New Mount Zion youth choir, where she began developing her voice as a child. As she entered her early teens, she started experimenting with songwriting and exploring different genres. With a natural talent for poetry, putting her words to music felt like the next step. What began as an early connection to music gradually developed into a deeper passion for creating it herself.
Artists such as Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, Lauryn Hill, India.Arie, Anita Baker, and Erykah Badu helped shape her musical identity. Their influence can be heard in her approach to songwriting, where spiritual roots, soulful melodies, and honest expression come together. Drawing from those inspirations while developing her own identity, Mystori aims to create music that reaches listeners beyond the surface.
Describing her sound as a blend of classic soul, gospel, and R&B, Mystori puts emotion and meaningful lyrics at the center of her music. She wants listeners to feel something genuine when they press play, bringing back the kind of feeling she believes made music special in the past. As an independent artist, she began recording much of her music at home and has also had the opportunity to work with talented producers and engineers throughout the Columbus area.
Outside of music, Mystori enjoyed spending time at local spots that gave her a chance to connect with people and have fun. Thursday night karaoke at The Hideaway was a favorite, while Players pool hall offered another place to unwind. Whether singing along or enjoying a game of pool, she gravitated toward activities that brought people together.
Her latest release, “FIRE,” carries a message of growth, determination, and elevation. The record serves as an anthem for anyone ready to move into their next chapter and leave behind whatever stands in the way of their progress. It reflects a mindset of knowing when it is time to make a change, embrace new opportunities, and pursue something greater.
Mystori is also preparing to deliver more music, with new releases expected in November. As she continues to develop her sound and build her presence as an independent artist, she remains grateful for the family, friends, and loved ones who have supported and encouraged her journey from day one.
