Big P.O.P. comes from the east side of Tulsa, Oklahoma—a tight, predominantly Mexican community where the days were tough, but the memories were good. He grew up in a small home, surrounded by family, friends, and the kind of energy that shapes a kid fast. Even as a child, he wanted to stand out. He wanted to prove himself, especially to his homies, and he’ll admit he was the “bad influence” more than once. But through all of that, one thing never changed: he loved music.
That passion took hold early. Big P.O.P. started rapping at just 11 years old, long before he understood what a career was supposed to look like. By 16, he was learning how to record in a studio, figuring things out on his own, and piecing together the foundation for the artist he would eventually become. His influences were stacked with legends—Lil Wayne, Future, Pimp C, Eminem, Kanye West—and over time, artists like NBA YoungBoy, Kevin Gates, Tory Lanez, and Kendrick Lamar added new layers to his sound and perspective.
Today, Big P.O.P. describes his music in one word: therapeutic. Creating it, listening back, releasing it—it’s all part of how he processes life. The emotions in his songs are real because they come from real moments, pulled straight from his experiences and put on record with intention. Every track is him getting something off his chest.
Despite the quality and the honesty in his music, everything released so far has been recorded in one place: his bedroom. He’s spent years building up a small home studio, piece by piece, until he could fully control his sound and release music exactly how he envisioned it.
When he wasn’t recording, Big P.O.P. was moving around the east side—everywhere. One of the spots that shaped him most was Plaza Santa Cecilia, the busy plaza on 21st & Garnett that serves as a cultural hub for the community. It’s a place that reflects the same mix of struggle, pride, and identity that fuels his storytelling.
His latest release, “Ride Up,” just dropped and marks his newest step forward as an artist ready for what’s next. And what’s next is a lot—Big P.O.P. has a vault full of unreleased music he’s excited to share. He’s even considering dropping a new song every month just to give fans a steady flow of what he’s been working on.
But he’s also clear about one thing: he didn’t get here alone. He gives a major shoutout to his team—Guzmo, Chiko, and BreaZy—for producing, engineering, and helping craft every record. And just as importantly, he wants to thank everyone who takes time out of their day to listen. For him, this isn’t just about making music—it’s about creating something people can feel, relate to, or simply enjoy.
