Growing up in California’s 805 area of Ventura County, Wack05 had what he describes as a middle-class suburban upbringing. Sports played a big role in his early years, especially football, but music was never far behind. Some of his favorite memories came from freestyling with teammates in the locker room, where friendly competition and creativity helped shape his passion for making music.
His love for writing started early. Wack05 began putting lyrics together while he was still in elementary school, long before he ever stepped into a recording studio. By his senior year of high school, he recorded his first song, turning a childhood hobby into something much bigger. Around that same time, longtime collaborator Foxy began producing their music while studying music theory at San Jose State University, helping develop the sound that fans know today.
Growing up, Wack05 drew inspiration from artists like 50 Cent, The Notorious B.I.G., OutKast, and Ugly God. While his influences leaned heavily toward the East Coast, he took those sounds and blended them into something that feels original. He describes his music as different and unconventional, mixing old-school influences with an alternative edge that somehow comes together naturally.
Outside of music, Wack05 spent plenty of time hanging around familiar local spots like Topanga Mall, grabbing food at Toppers Pizza in Thousand Oaks, and skateboarding along Ventura Boulevard. Those experiences and the people around him became part of the foundation that shaped both his personality and his music.
Most of the music fans hear today was recorded at Sonically Inclined Studios in Ventura, California, a studio where Wack05 is also a partial owner. Having his own creative space has allowed him to continue building his catalog while staying true to his vision.
His latest release, “Hustla” featuring TruCarr, continues to showcase his unique approach to music while representing where he’s from. Fans can also look forward to even more new music with the upcoming deluxe edition of his debut album, LOPE.
As his career continues to grow, Wack05 makes sure to recognize the people who have helped him along the way. He gives special thanks to Undrgrnd Magazine for marketing support, his manager Lamor, and Big Shot Consumer Law for their representation. With a sound that refuses to fit inside one lane and a strong team behind him, Wack05 is continuing to build his own path while proudly representing Ventura County’s 805.
