While many people in the music industry dream of becoming the artist in the spotlight, GS Ash found his purpose on the business side of the game. As the founder of his own record label and an executive producer, he’s focused on creating opportunities, developing talent, and helping artists bring their vision to life.
Born in Denver, Colorado, Ashtyn Gould, better known as GS Ash, moved to Spanaway, Washington, during the sixth grade. Growing up, he watched his father constantly hustle and find different ways to make money. That work ethic left a lasting impression and inspired him to become independent at a young age. Whether it was selling products or finding new business opportunities, he always looked for ways to stay productive and earn.
Music became part of his life early. He wrote his first song while still in elementary school and stayed involved in choir through his junior year of high school. During his senior year, he gave rapping a serious shot and even recorded a few songs with friends. Looking back, he laughs about those early recordings, admitting they weren’t his best work. That experience helped him discover where his true strengths were. Instead of chasing a career as an artist, he shifted his focus to management, production, and the executive side of the industry.
His love for music came from listening to a wide range of artists and genres. Influences like Kevin Gates, Tupac, Matchbox Twenty, OneRepublic, and classic R&B helped shape his appreciation for music without limiting him to one style. Today, that open-minded approach allows him to work with artists from different backgrounds and sounds.
Most of the music he has helped bring to life has been recorded with Joseph Kay at Kay Studios, where many of his creative ideas have become finished records.
One of his latest executive production credits is Shake Down by ZayBang. Looking ahead, GS Ash has several major projects on the way, including albums with EBK Bckdoe, Verde Babii, and SSRichh33, along with multiple singles featuring a variety of artists.
For GS Ash, success isn’t measured by streams under his own name. It’s measured by the artists he helps develop, the music he helps create, and the business he’s building behind the scenes. While others are chasing the spotlight, he’s focused on creating a foundation that can help artists succeed for years to come.
