Coming out of Maryland, Suckafreejuice is one of the most talented up and coming artist out there city.
Suckafreejuice spent his early childhood moving around Maryland, from Baltimore to Prince George’s County and other parts of the state. With his mother raising him while taking on the responsibilities of both parents, moving became a regular part of life. His upbringing was similar to that of a military brat, constantly adjusting to new surroundings until his family eventually settled in Largo, Maryland.
Music became part of his life at an early age. Around nine to twelve years old, he spent a lot of time listening to Lil Wayne and Drake. As he got older, his musical influences shifted closer to home, including Baltimore artist Lor Scoota and Prince George’s County rapper Big Flock. Those influences helped shape his ear for music as he continued developing his own style.
Although he started taking music seriously around the ages of 11 or 12, it was at 16 that he began approaching it with a greater level of commitment. His sound reflects the life he has lived, with an emphasis on real stories, personal experiences, and pain. Rather than moving away from reality, Suckafreejuice uses music as a way to put those experiences into words.
His connection to Maryland also runs through the places where he spent his younger years. Growing up, the Largo Shopping Center was one of his regular hangout spots, especially when he was skipping school. He also spent time at the trails in Summerset, often finding himself moving around his environment. By the time he reached his later school years, the BLVD had become a place to be.
When it comes to recording, Suckafreejuice has kept much of his work within a familiar circle. Most of the music he has released was recorded with just two or three engineers, with YungSwayz and 1DjPip being the primary names behind his sessions in Maryland studios. Building that consistency has allowed him to continue creating while staying connected to the people and places around him.
One of his releases, “Disassociate Me,” gives listeners another look into his catalog and the direction he is taking with his music. He is also preparing to release a new song and accompanying video titled “Hold Me,” expected to arrive within the next few weeks.
