Emerging from the East Side of Columbus, Ohio, Saint Lamaar is an artist whose story starts with family, faith, and music. As the youngest of seven children, he grew up in a household where music and creativity were always around him.
His parents went through their own struggles with addiction before getting clean, turning their lives around and eventually becoming ministers. Growing up in the church gave Saint Lamaar a strong foundation in faith and helped shape the way he viewed the world.
His nickname, “Saint,” also comes from those early years. As a child, he was known for praying with his friends before school activities and sporting events. What started as a simple part of his childhood eventually became a name that followed him into his music career.
Music was also a major part of his upbringing. Saint Lamaar grew up in a musical family, and he and his siblings would put together talent shows, record videos, freestyle, and perform around the house. Those early moments gave him a natural connection to creating and performing before he ever looked at music as a career.
As he got older, those childhood freestyles developed into something more serious. While some of his earliest YouTube content dates back around six years, Saint Lamaar had already been building his craft for years. He continued finding his voice, developing his sound, and learning how to turn his creativity into a platform of his own.
His growth picked up even more when he started dropping his signature “YNRNB” car freestyles. He eventually discovered that filming the freestyles in black and white helped increase engagement and reach, giving the series an identity of its own and helping more people discover his music.
Throughout his journey, Saint Lamaar has continued building his catalog with records like “BUSS AT YOU,” “Everybody,” “Work It Out (Sweet Thing),” and “When I See You,” showing different sides of his sound while continuing to develop as an artist.
Now, Saint Lamaar continues to push forward with his latest release, “Alone,” currently available on all streaming platforms. From growing up as the youngest of seven, being raised around faith and music, to creating his own lane through YNRNB, his journey is still being written.
