From Haiti to Florida: The Story Behind The Artist — BurgerMarty

Born and raised in Haiti, rising artist BurgerMarty moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in the second grade. Adjusting to life in the United States came with its own challenges, but his imagination and creativity were already part of who he was. Growing up, he dreamed of becoming a ninja or a spy, often creating his own missions around his aunt’s house. Outside of that, he spent much of his free time gaming.

BurgerMarty began rapping in 2020, but it wasn’t until he started creating content under the BurgerMarty name on TikTok that he began taking his music career seriously. With limited money and a $25 phone bill he couldn’t afford, he found motivation in his circumstances and decided to put more energy into his craft. Using the BandLab app, he developed his sound, stayed consistent, and released three projects in one year.

His approach to music is built around discipline and independence. By staying in his room and avoiding outside distractions, he creates an environment where he can focus on his sound and remain in his own creative zone. Projects like 90 Day Hibernation reflect his commitment to staying active and building his catalog.

BurgerMarty’s signature mask and unique style also helped separate him from other artists. What started as a way to maintain anonymity eventually became part of his identity. Now, his music is reaching a wider audience, with his breakout single, “Bring Custo,” gaining momentum through its infectious energy and a Haitian-inspired remix. The music video came together through a do-it-yourself approach, with friends and community members helping bring his vision to life.

As his profile continues to grow, BurgerMarty has also received recognition from established artists, including online support from Kodak Black and Rod Wave. Despite interest from record labels, he remains focused on staying independent, maintaining ownership of his music, and having full creative control over his career.

Beyond music, BurgerMarty is a college student majoring in psychology while continuing to build his brand. He keeps a low profile on campus, balancing his education with the demands of being an emerging artist. His long-term vision reaches beyond music, with plans to develop an established brand that could eventually include merchandise and other business ventures.
