Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, TAYEXOTIC has always been driven by creativity. Long before stepping into a recording booth, writing became her outlet, allowing her to express her thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. That passion eventually grew into a career rooted in authenticity and self-expression.
Her journey took an uncommon path. While many artists were finding their way through local studios, TAYEXOTIC was serving in the U.S. Navy, an experience that instilled discipline, resilience, and a new perspective on life. During her military service, she also earned a degree in audio production, giving her both the creative vision and technical knowledge to shape her own sound.
Around 2015, she began writing poetry and performing at open mic events, building confidence with every performance. It wasn’t until she was stationed in Japan that she started recording music, marking the beginning of a catalog that has continued to grow ever since.
Growing up, TAYEXOTIC drew inspiration from artists who weren’t afraid to be themselves. Influences like Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Eminem, Kanye West, and Chief Keef inspired her through their confidence, storytelling, and individuality. Rather than following trends, she focused on developing a voice that was uniquely her own.
Most of her music today has been recorded in Chicago, where she has continued refining her craft alongside different engineers and producers. Her hometown remains a major influence, with memories of spending time throughout the city, attending local events, performing at open mics, and exploring different neighborhoods. Those experiences introduced her to a wide range of cultures and personalities that continue to shape her music.
TAYEXOTIC describes her sound as bold, cinematic, and unpredictable. She blends hard-hitting rap with melodic moments, creating records that reflect growth, confidence, emotion, and transformation. Every song is inspired by real-life experiences, allowing listeners to connect with her story on a deeper level.
Her latest release, “Backdoor,” continues to showcase her evolution as both an artist and storyteller. Looking ahead, she’s preparing for the release of her upcoming album, The Catalyst, along with a series of new singles and creative visuals that promise to elevate her artistry even further.
