The Artist Connect Presents: The Story Behind Lp Marcy

Emerging from Salisbury, Maryland, known as the Eastern Shore, Lp Marcy is an artist whose music reflects the life he has lived. From growing up in a household led by strong women to finding his voice through poetry, his journey has been shaped by family, personal struggles, and the power of music.

Raised by the women he calls his “Blacc Queens,” Marcy grew up navigating life without both parents consistently present. His father was incarcerated, while his mother was living in Philadelphia. Through it all, his grandmother remained a steady presence, making sure he understood the importance of education. She encouraged him to stay focused on school, and he made it a priority to graduate.

Before he ever considered himself a rapper, Marcy was writing poetry. His grandmother would sit him down and encourage him to put his feelings on paper, giving him an early outlet to express himself. What started as a way to process his emotions would eventually become the foundation of his music.

Growing up, Marcy spent much of his time on Salisbury’s Southside and in Doverdale. He also had the freedom to move throughout different parts of the city, making connections wherever he went. Known by many in his hometown, he became one of those familiar faces who could move through almost any side of the city.

Music was another important part of his upbringing. He grew up listening to artists like Lil Phat, Boosie, and Yo Gotti, along with other voices from the trap scene. His uncle was also a DJ, exposing him to different genres and sounds that helped shape his musical ear.

The year 2010 became a pivotal time in Marcy’s life. During a period when he needed something to lean on, music helped him get through. And during this time he was emerging into a household name “LoudPacc” or LP as they call him now. Those experiences continue to influence his sound today.

Marcy calls his style “Livin Proof.” Rather than trying to fit into a particular category, he focuses on telling his own story. Every song carries pieces of his life, whether through personal experiences, struggles, or moments that helped shape the man he is today.

When speaking on his approach to music, Marcy explains that he wants listeners to feel as though they are walking in his shoes, especially when he speaks on pain. His goal is to paint a picture through his lyrics, allowing people to connect with the experiences behind the music.

Much of his recording has taken place at @QualityIntervention studio alongside his guy Cash, where he continues to develop his sound and bring his stories to life.

Most recently, Marcy released his three-song EP, ESPN, giving fans something to hold them over until his upcoming tape arrives. The project serves as another look into his world, while his hit single “Erybody Kno It” remains a go-to record for listeners. Fans can stream the single now as they wait for what he has coming next.

Beyond the music, Marcy gives credit to the people who have supported him throughout his journey. He gives thanks to God for the strength to keep going and acknowledges his children as a major part of his life.

He also shows love to his TheNewShore camp and the artists he has worked with over the years, along with his Baltimore family from 92Q, Lnyce, OnDummyEnt, ECoe, and Rezpromomarketing.

One of his biggest acknowledgments goes to his uncle Ty, known as @teampreenump, who recognized his potential before many others did. Marcy remembers being taken on the road by his uncle, even when there was no money involved. Years later, he continues to appreciate the belief and support that helped him see what was possible.
