For TrapMaulWT$, music has never been something he stumbled into—it has always been a part of who he is. Born and raised in San Bernardino, California, he has been creating for as long as he can remember. Long before recording songs or releasing projects, he was a kid writing verses whenever inspiration struck.
He recalls writing music almost as soon as he learned how to write his own name. Every time a favorite song came on a music video channel, he would challenge himself to write his own verse to it. Those early moments helped build the foundation for a passion that would stay with him throughout his life.
One of his earliest inspirations was watching Bow Wow as a young artist making an impact at an early age. Seeing someone close to his own age succeed in music made the dream feel possible. It sparked a belief that he could do the same.
As he grew older, music continued to shape his perspective. During his childhood, the energy and intensity of DMX left a lasting impression. His songs seemed to soundtrack many of the memorable scenes from the movies TrapMaulWT$ watched growing up. By middle school, his influences expanded to include Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y. Their music reinforced many of the goals and ideas he already carried with him, inspiring both his lifestyle and approach to creating music. Even today, he continues to draw inspiration from artists and experiences around him, believing that growth never stops.
When asked to describe his sound, TrapMaulWT$ keeps it simple: it’s real. His music reflects his life, mindset, and ambitions. He believes words carry power and that people can shape their future through the things they consistently speak into existence. That philosophy is woven throughout his music, turning personal experiences and goals into records that listeners can connect with.
Most of his music has been recorded either at home or alongside his longtime collaborator and friend, Ijashawn. The two have built a strong creative chemistry over the years, making it easy to get together, knock out several songs in a session, and then get back to enjoying life. Their shared dedication to the craft allows ideas to flow naturally, even when they approach music from different perspectives. That balance has helped them develop a productive and consistent creative process.
Outside of the studio, TrapMaulWT$ has remained focused on building something authentic. His latest release, the EP Set Sufficient, showcases both his growth as an artist and the mindset that drives him. The project represents years of work, experience, and dedication to staying true to himself.
The journey doesn’t stop there. TrapMaulWT$ and his team are currently working on a mini-movie inspired by Set Sufficient, bringing the project to life through visuals and storytelling. With plenty of new music on the way, he continues to push forward while appreciating every person who has supported the movement.
