Coming out of Memphis, Tennessee, K Carbon’s story is rooted in a city known for its culture, individuality, and deep musical history. Growing up in Memphis, she was shaped by her surroundings and the environment around her.
As a child, K Carbon was active and always on the move. She played basketball and ran track during middle school, staying involved in sports while growing into her own personality. After high school, K Carbon attended Southwest Tennessee Community College, where she studied dental work and cosmetics. While she had other interests and was building her future, music continued to pull her back. Eventually, she decided to put her full focus into her artistry.
Before the major moments came, K Carbon was already putting in work throughout the Memphis scene. She consistently released music, shot videos, performed at local venues, and continued building her name. That groundwork was important because by the time her breakout moment arrived, she wasn’t a newcomer to the city. She had already been putting in the work and establishing herself.
A major turning point came when K Carbon, GloRilla, and Gloss Up attended a showcase hosted by Trill. HitKidd was also in attendance and took notice of what he heard. Impressed by the group, he invited them to the studio to collaborate.
That studio session would lead to “Set The Tone.”
After videos from the recording session were posted online, the song began gaining serious attention. Its momentum grew across social media, including Twitter, and what started as a studio collaboration quickly became a viral moment. For K Carbon, it was another sign that the work she had been putting in was starting to reach a much bigger audience.
